Far, far away and out of sight, that’s where April, Dave, Cindy, Rick and the Godfather are creating life on their own terms. From the depths of the flood channels under Sin City, to a reclaimed military bunker in the middle of the dusty, heated Californian nowhere land, to beyond the stratosphere where Mars now lives on earth. Each individual has been flung into periling circumstances on this roller-coaster ride called life. Through the hustle, pain, and laughter, we are whisked away to an unfamiliar world where we discover its in-habitants to be souls not unlike our very own. www.aboveandbelowfilm.com

Thomas’ wife doesn’t have the time and his daughter cannot be bothered. Nevertheless, Thomas is bent on spending a relaxing ski-ing holiday with his family in the Swiss Alps. The fact that Sarah, the daughter of his boss, tags along this year only serves to compli-cate matters. The two teenagers get in trouble with the youth in the village. As a responsible adult, Thomas ought to intervene. Instead he turns a blind eye to the situation and thus becomes increasingly entangled in a web of lies and half-truths. www.nichtspassiert.ch

Swiss films on tour in latin america

In collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Mexico, SWISS FILMS launched the “Joyas del cine suizo” programme showcasing film classics from Switzerland in the Cineteca Nacional in Mexico City last December. As a preliminary to the FICG, a selection of these films was screened in Cine-foro in Guadalajara in February. Following the festival and the film market in Guadalajara, a selection of these current films will be screened again in the Cineteca Nacional in col-laboration with the Swiss Embassy in Mexico. A selection should also be available on VOD platforms in Latin America. Furthermore, a Swiss programme will be screened at the Eurocine Festival in Columbia this year and in Brazil in 2017. In addition, film programmes at further Mexican and Latin American film festivals are being planned.
