Current Scenario in Brazil
▪ The Brazilian ATM system comprises many legacy applications developed fordifferent purposes;
▪ Moreover, these applications usually have their own communication protocol, andthey were developed initially not taking into account global interoperability orservice-oriented strategy;
▪ SWIM development is considered at SIRIUS Program.

SWIM Registry: Sharing a common view
Registry integration US-EU ongoing
▪ Describes the complete set of services enabled by SWIM with qualitative, consolidatedand structured information. The registry is also the source of reference for otherservice related information such as standards, policies and certifications.

SWIM profiles
▪ The registry imposes a set of standards and requirements that should be met by acandidate service.
▪ As there are different levels of criticality, different profiles have been defined for thedifferent domains:
▪ Blue Profile: Real Time information exchange between ATC systems
▪ Yellow Profile: Generic profile, non-safety critical, most actors can interact, services over the Internet
▪ Purple Profile: Includes all services that connect directly to the aircraft
The Yellow profile is rapidly growing in importance and maturity

European SWIM Pioneer: NM B2B Services
Network Manager (NM)
▪ Collaborative Management of the ATM Network’ relies on successive phases ofoperation planning from long to medium and short term. In this context, all involvedATM stakeholders progressively share more and more precise data to build a commontraffic and operational environment picture called the Network Operations Plan (NOP).The NOP serves two main purposes:
1. Monitoring the real-time status of air traffic, airspace and air traffic flow and capacity
management (ATFCM) measures;
2. Planning of pan-European operations in a collaborative way from the strategic to the
tactical phases, hence optimizing the use of available ATM capacity.
B2B Services
▪ The NM B2B Web Services provide access to NOP and NMOC (Network Manager Operations Centre) information via a system-to-system interface over the Internet.
▪ This allows stakeholders to exploit, share and use the information in their own systems according to their own business needs and their own technical constraints.

NM B2B Services Overview
• The NM B2B Web Services is an interface provided by the EUROCONTROLNetwork Manager for accessing its services and sharing information.
• The NM B2B Web Services provide access to both data and services via asystem-to-system interface over the Internet, allowing (NM) customers toexploit and use the EUROCONTROL information in their own systems.
• HTTPS, SOAP and REST, XML payload, AMPQ (pub-sub)

NM B2B Services: Available services
▪ The available NM B2B Web Services have been grouped into four operational domains:
1. Flight Services
2. Airspace Services
3. Flow Services
4. General information services

NM B2B Services: Flight Services
▪ Flight Plan Preparation which includes Network Manager Operations Centre (NMOC) validation and route generation;
▪ Flight Plan Management which provides multiple functions to support initial Flight Plan Filing, Flight Plan Updates, Cancellations and associated operations;
▪ Flight Data Retrieval which provides web services to query and retrieve information on flight plans and flights by different filters (destination airport, arrival airport, off block time,…);
While the plan is to transition to FIXM in the near future this services still use
an Eurocontrol defined format (also XML based).

NM B2B Services: Airspace Services
▪ Airspace Data, provides access to the most up to date and consistent network view of NM operational airspace data
▪ Web services providing access to static & dynamic airspace data:
▪ AIP sourced data (Points, Routes, Aerodromes and Airspaces) including changes resulting from NOTAM implementation and AUP/UUP implementation;
▪ Restriction data i.e. primarily RAD and profile tuning restrictions, but also including other NM Restriction data;
▪ The information given in the AIXM format.

NM B2B Services: Flow services
▪ Regulation List; provides access to all the regulation information used in the NM Flow management system;
▪ Density of occupation of the airspace: Includes services that give information about the number of aircrafts by different filters (in a sector, in a corridor or close to point);
▪ Capacity Management: Gives information on existing hotspots and provides services for suggesting and accepting solutions to them (CDM).

NM B2B Services: General Information services
▪ AIM (ATFCM Information Messages) for accessing the general Network Operations information as published in the AIMs.
▪ The information published can be retrieved using filters such as the area of interest;
▪ The formats are always XML based and, when applicable, they use the ICAO selected standards.

Opportunity!
1. Airlines show curiosity about SWIM, but will not jump on board until
benefits are demonstrated
2. Current SWIM rerouting services are not useful for most Airlines.
Rerouting opportunity reaches the airline too late.

EUROCONTROL SWIM Demonstrator: JumpStart
Not for operational use!
Jumpstart is a SWIM enabled application,
demonstrating interoperability with distinct ATM
information sources using standard mainstream
technology and standardized physical data
exchange models, leading to cost efficiencies,
unconstrained and robust solutions.
