Commitment to Greener Communities

Page 2: SUSTAINABILITY Brochure Marvin Integrity

Sustainability and environmental responsibility influence every aspect of our business. Through waste reduction, the wise use of resources and long-lasting, energy-efficient products, we live out the Integrity name.

Integrity from Marvin® Windows and Doors has a long history of green-minded initiatives with recycling efforts, employee awareness and incorporating green components into our processes. To see our list of numerous honors and awards for green building, visit IntegrityWindows.com/Green.

Uncompromised PerformanceIntegrity® Windows and Doors’ eco-friendly practices don’t compromise performance, because Integrity windows and doors are made with Ultrex®. Ultrex expands and contracts at nearly the same rate as glass, remaining tightly sealed with square corners. Since windows and doors last longer — with a 10 year product warranty to prove it — the energy used to produce them is put to more efficient use.

Eco-Friendly Manufacturing Process• 95% of all Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

are destroyed (Tecton facility in Fargo, ND)

• Tecton facility qualifies for Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) designation by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

• Ultrex® is made from silica sand, a safe and abundant natural resource

• Wood pallets and scraps are used for fuel recovery

• Fargo facility is ISO-9001-2000 and ISO-14001-2004 Certified

Sustainable SavingsEnergy efficiency is a top priority for Integrity® Windows and Doors, and our products are ENERGY STAR® qualified. Our dedication to meeting or exceeding the highest energy-efficiency standards means that you can build Integrity windows into your plan to reduce environmental impact and save with reduced energy bills and tax credits. Plus, your Integrity products are put to efficient use with a 38% longer useful life expectancy than vinyl.*

Recycling EffortsRecycling is part of the fabric of Integrity. Our ultimate goal is to reduce our waste stream to “zero waste” and we’re getting closer every year. So far, we’ve reduced our garbage volume by one-third, despite an increase in production and employees.

Annually, The Marvin® Companies recycle:

• 300 tons of cardboard

• 4,000 pounds of polyethylene films

• 3,300 pounds metal scraps and metal drums

• 800 tons of aluminum

• 90 tons of paper

• Other: Ultrex material, fiber drums, office materials, florescent and metal halide lamps and wood

Community InvolvementThe Marvin Companies’ commitment to sustainability extends far beyond the walls of our facilities. Our community involvement promoting sustainable practices is part of our company mission. We work towards greener communities through initiatives including:

• Regional Forest Education, a children’s program about the environment

• Community Emergency Management, an emergency preparedness program

• School District Recycling, a public-private partnership with Warroad, MN schools

• Solid Waste Reduction Partnership, recycling scrap wood from our manufacturing as boiler fuel for local businesses

• Minnesota 50-Voluntary Pollution Prevention – Marvin has reduced releases and offsite transfers of 17 chemicals

Sustainable ForestryMarvin cares strongly for the critical role that forests play in the quality of life within the global ecosystems. We support sustainable forestry management and conserve natural resources through various efforts including:

• Preserving old growth and ancient rainforests

• Using pine, a resource not associated with rainforests, for Wood-Ultrex real-wood interiors

• Purchasing from reliable law lumber suppliers

• Participating as a Charter Member in the Forest Products Management

• Supporting the WDMA Green Task Force Statement of Beliefs

DEDICATION TO SUSTAINABILITYWe make products able to withstand the power of the great outdoors, while preserving the natural resources from which they were made.
