Unaware of a connection that was forged over several hundred years ago, Shiv and Saira are inexplicably drawn to each other and have a beautiful and hilarious relation- ship in very little time. Shiv is a laugh a minute and unknow- ingly brings so much sunshine into her life that Saira feels this is too good to be true. Until, of course, the third angle to their relationship emerges in the form of Zakir Merchant, a billionaire who goes all out to woo the beautiful yet strikingly down-to- earth Saira. From this point on, her life takes a turn that changes everything about her destiny. A prophecy looms large over the destinies of Shiv, Zak and Saira in this life too. Kriti spoke about her character in Raabta. "My character believes in reincarnation. When we meet someone we either get a good or bad vibe and that is maybe because there is some connection and I do believe in this." Set against the beautiful backdrop of Budapest, Raabta stars Sushant Singh Rajput, who shot to fame recently as legendary cricketer in MS Dhoni: An Untold Story. The film also starts Kriti Sanon off Diwale fame. This will be the first time that Kriti and Sushant appear together on screen, and they definitely have a connection! Raabta is the directorial debut of Dinesh Vijan, producer of blockbusters such as Love AajKal, Cocktail and Badlapur. The film's songs have already proved incredibly popular and are creating a great buzz and air of expectancy for the film itself. The song 'IkVaari' and the title song 'Raabta' which feature the stunning Deepika Padukone have crossed more than 20 million views on YouTube. Produced by Homi Adajania, Bhushan Kumar and Dinesh Vijan, Raabta is distributed interna- tionally by Coconut Movies and releases nationwide on June 9. BIRMINGHAM (IANS) Defending champion India put up an all-round show to drub arch-rivals Pakistan by 124 runs via Duckworth-Lewis (DL) method in a rain-marred Group B encounter of the Champions Trophy here on Sunday. Asked to bat, the Indians rode on a power- packed performance by the top order to post a challenging total of 319/3 in an innings affected by rain twice -- and consequently short- ened to 48 overs. Further rain interruptions forced the match officials to revise the target to 289 runs off 41 overs according to the DL method. The Pakistanis were off to a steady start thanks to openers Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shehzad, who put together an opening stand of 47 runs in nine overs before pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck the first blow for India by trapping the latter leg before. Ali continued to battle on, top scoring for Pakistan with a steady 50 runs off 65 balls before being dismissed. But the rest of the Pakistan batsmen seemed to buckle under pressure and failed to rise to the challenge. The promising Babar Azam -- touted as Pakistan's answer to Virat Kohli -- seemed decidedly ordinary during his 12-ball stay in the middle, scoring just eight runs before a superb reflex catch by Ravindra Jadeja off Umesh Yadav's bowling ensured his departure. A 30-run stand between Ali and Mohammad Hafeez followed by a 23- run partnership by Hafeez and Shoaib Malik was the only bit of resis- tance that the Pakistanis could manage thereafter. Apart from Ali, Hafeez was the only Pakistan batsmen who managed to stand up to the Indian bowlers even as wickets fell at regular intervals at the other end. He scored 33 off 43 balls with two hits to the fence. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav was the most successful among the Indian bowlers with figures of 3/0 in 7.4 overs. Fellow pacer Hardik Pandya and left- arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja returned identical figures of 2/43 while Bhuvneshwar Kumar notched up 1/23. Earlier, a brilliant batting display helped India post a challenging 319/3. Top-order batsmen Rohit Sharma (91 runs in 119 balls), skip- per Virat Kohli (81 not out), Shikhar Dhawan (68 runs in 65 balls) and Yuvraj Singh (53 runs in 32 balls) were the major contributors. PUNJABI SUPERSTAR DILJIT DOSANJH PROMOTESCANADA AROUND THE GLOBE THROUGH SUPER SINGH!

MONTREAL - Punjabi Superstar singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is gearing up forthe release of his upcoming film Super Singh, which was extensively shot inand around Montreal, Canada in October 2016!!Diljit just closed his sold out Canada Dream Tour in Toronto , afterhaving sold out crowds all across the nation from Vancouver,Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto! Diljit was in Canada for the entiremonth of May for his tour and has closed his tour and now promot-ing Super Singh, the first Punjabi super hero film. This is Diljit'sfour th film production shot in Canada, the previous three were shotin the Greater Vancouver and Victoria areas of British Columbia.Diljit has a soft spot for Canada as all his blockbuster films, Jatt &Juliet 1 & 2, and Sardaarji have been shot here, so Canada isdefinitely proving to be his lucky charm and he goes all out toshowcase the best of Canada to the world! Diljit says: "Canada isnot only one of the most beautiful places in the world but also oneof the best to live and work in. Every time I shoot a film or come fora tour here, I feel so much love and appreciation and truly witnessand experience Canada's multicultural vibe and an encompassingsprit. Canada feels like home because my hear t always feels likeit's at home. Thus I love showcasing the best of Canada to all theaudiences across the world as everyone should see what an

amazing place this country is!"the new movie is shot in Montreal as filmmakers wanted theiraudiences to experience the warm French-Canadian culture of thecountry on screen. The film's Canada-born and raised producerPawan Gill says: "We chose Montreal because most Punjabiaudiences around the world have seen the western par t of Canadaas so mnay films have been shot there in the past 17 years. Whilegrowing up in Surrey, I always wondered why Punjabi filmmakersrarely explored other par ts of Canada."As a university student at the University of British Columbia Itravelled to Montreal for two summers in a row working on asummer exchange program between French and English speakingCanada, and at that time the cultural diversity and the inherentbeauty of Montreal always stayed with me. So whenshor tlisting locations for our film, I chose Montreal as an optionand immediately both Diljit and our Director Anurag Singh, whohas shot two films in Canada before, jumped at the idea and lovedwhat they saw!Even though I've been now living and working in Mumbai as afilmmaker for the past 12 years or so, at hear t I'm a true blueCanadian and my hear t swells with pride when the world not only

compliments Canada for its physical beauty but for its inner souland spirit, and that's essentially what our film is about!" SuperSingh is a film that explores the crisis that many immigrants dealwith and how to take pride in your own identity and integrate intomainstream society while making the world a great place to live inwith diversity.Like most Bollywood films, this film tells this story through musicand dance and has the inherent spirit of comedy to keep audiencesengaged and enter tained throughout, while attempting to give out astrong message to the community at large. This film has exten-sively used local Canadian talent in the film and in fact the secondfemale lead in the film, Alexandra Bandean is born and brought-upin the greater Montreal area. She is seen extensively in the trailerthroughout and it would be a treat to see her shine on screen andperform in the Bollywood style dance numbers with Diljit. The firstsong shot between the two was released over the weekend.Super Singh presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, produced by BratFilms with international release through Grandshowbiz Enter tain-ment, is set for a worldwide release on June 16. It will be a majorrelease all across Canada. So do not miss to see the half Canadianand half Indian Punjabi super hero come to life on screen!!

'DOBAARA - SEE YOUR EVIL'A LACKLUSTRE FARE

CAST: HUMA QURESHI, SAQIB SALEEM,

ADIL HUSSAIN, LISA RAY, RHEA

CHAKRABORTY, MADALINA BELLARIU ION

RATING: **

This film is a remake of the American psychological horrorthriller "Oculus", which was directed by Mike Flanagan andreleased in India in October 2014. The original film was basedon a shor t film of the same name made in 2006 and was co-written by Jeff Howard. Loaded with horror tropes, the film istouted to be a spine chiller that psyches your mind with reflec-tions of the past and hallucinations of the present. But unlike the English version which was engaging, this filmpenned by director Prawaal Raman is burdened with a self-imposed history, a verbose script and a badly mounted screen-play loaded with ghost-induced hallucination and flash backs. This makes the viewing distractedly confusing, and far fromwhat it was flaunted to be. Oscillating between events that tookplace years ago and the present, it is the story of the Merchantsiblings Natasha (Huma Qureshi) and Kabir (Saqib Saleem). They are the driving force of the tale.Convicted for the brutal murder of his father Alex (AdilHussain), Kabir is released from the correction centre after hisgirlfriend and criminal psychologist Tanya (Rhea Chakrabor ty)convinces the cour t that he can have a smooth transition intosociety. On his release, Natasha emotionally cajoles Kabir toreturn to their childhood home, which she sets up with elec-tronic gadgets, three cameras, and a caged dog. She does this

in order to prove her point that the framed mirror which theirfather had purchased as an ar t collection, in reality is theresidence of a supernatural force that caused their parents'death. Thus citing that Kabir and their father are innocent ofall the horrific violence that occurred years ago.Her only motive now is to prove her point and destroy themirror. During the course of this exercise, the duo lose gripon reality and their trauma is once again rekindled. On theper formance front, every actor seems to execute their partperfunctorily. Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem, though siblings inreal life, seem to be distant on screen and their performance lackslustre. They fail to internalise their fear and hence their act seemsshallow and fake. Similarly, the enthusiasm of the character seemsto be lost on Adil Hussain and Lisa Ray who plays his wife. This isevident when Adil mechanically recites the poem, "Fi fie, foe, fum, Ismell the blood of an English mana." The rest of the charactersseem like mere pawns on the board. Also with a majority ofthe por tion shot in the single house and events, past andpresent unfurling concurrently with a handful of characters, the film fails to create anxiety and instead seems moretheatrically staged. Overall, despite the above averageproduction values and a fine technical team, the film fails toengage you psychologically.

NO BAD BLOOD WITH JAYZ, BEYONCE: ORALOS ANGELES, (IANS) Singer Rita Ora says there's no"bad blood" with Jay Z and his wife and singer BeyonceKnowles after suing the rapper's Roc Nation label. Clarke prefers Yuvraj over Rahanein ICC Champions TrophyLONDON, (IANS) Former Australia captain Michael Clarke said he pre-ferred playing Yuvraj Singh ahead of Ajinkya Rahane. Clarke's commentscame after former India skipper Mohammed Azharuddin said Yuvraj andveteran wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni are indeed not thesame finishers they were a few years ago. "I'd go with the two mostexperienced players in Yuvraj and Dhoni. This is their time to really stand up.You do need the mix of youth and experience in the team. But if I have to pickbetween Yuvraj and Rahane, I would go with the experienced player," Clarkesaid at the Aaj Tak Salaam Cricket 2017 here. "MS Dhoni for me is a no-brainer. You have got to pick him. He was outstanding in the Indian PremierLeague (IPL) and still capable to win matches for the Indian team," he added.Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara said the Dhoni factor will bethe key for India in the June 1 to 18 tournament in England and Wales. "Dhonihas been a bedrock of support for Steve Smith in Rising Pune Supergiantand for Virat Kohli in the Indian team," Sangakkara said. The Ranchi stumperstepped down from the national team's captaincy in January and handedover the mantle to Kohli. He was later replaced by Smith to lead the IPL-10runners-up Pune. "With MS as a wicketkeeper, he brings so much to theIndian side. His role in his own team in the IPL is also very similar to his rolein the Indian team. He's not the captain anymore in both sides," Sangakkarasaid. Clarke picked England, Australia, South Africa and India as the semi-finalists in the Champions Trophy, to which the other three - Azharuddin,Sangakkara and Smith also agreed.

CT 2017: INDIA THRASHPAKISTAN IN ONE-SIDED CLASH

CONTD. FROM PAGE 17All forged crucial partnerships, played the ball to its merit and post-rain, whenit was more difficult to bat with the same concentration, applied themselves to theEnglish conditions. Apart from the top order, all-rounder Hardik Pandya's cameo(20 runs in six balls) was also useful. World No 8 Pakistan, on the other hand, wereseen struggling throughout the innings. Their fielders dropped several catches andtheir bowlers bowled poor length. For India, Rohit and Shikhar started on a cautiousnote and just when both the batsmen seemed to be settling in the middle, rainplayed the spoilsport. After almost a 40-minute hold-up, with the scoreboardreading 46 runs in 9.5 overs, India regrouped their strategy and started counter-attacking. Rohit and Dhawan displayed some brilliant shots in order to boostthe run rate. Rohit, who was struggling initially, got to his half-century in the19th over with a pull that went for a six at the mid-wicket. Soon, in the verynext over, Dhawan also brought up his 50 with a fine shot at backward point. After scoring 110 runs in 20 overs, both sought to exploit the conditions andpoor fielding from the Pakistani players. But while doing so, Dhawan wascaught at deep mid-wicket by Azhar Ali off Shadab Khan in the 25th over,

breaking their 136-run partnership. Kohli, who came in, supported Rohit wellat the other end by simply rotating the strike. Rohit, who now seemed confi-dent at the crease, kept on punishing the bowlers. But in the 33rd over, theskies opened up again and play was interrupted. After a 45-minute hiatus, theVirat-Rohit partnership soon ended in the latter's run-out -- and he missed awell-deserved ton. In the 37th over, Virat wanted to steal a single but a strongthrow from backward point by Babar Azam did the trick and Rohit, who slammedseven boundaries and two sixes, failed to scramble home. Incoming batsmanYuvraj Singh, true to his reputation, started thrashing Pakistani bowlers all around. The pressure started building on the bowlers and fielders and, as a result, theydropped Yuvraj and Kohli in the process, which cost them hugely in the deathovers. The two batsman forged a 93-run partnership for the third wicket beforeYuvraj was adjudged leg before wicket in the penultimate over after thePakistan skipper went for a review and was called correct. An unperturbedKohli and new batsman Pandya played freely and started knocking the ballout of the ground. Pandya hit three consecutive sixes off Imad Wasim in thelast over. Shadab and Hasan Ali took one wicket each.

BIRMINGHAM, (IANS) Indian veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh feels thattheir emphatic 124-run win over arch-rivals Pakistan in an encounterof the Champions Trophy match here on Sunday has given them aflying star t in their bid to defend the title. Asked to bat, the Indiansrode on a power-packed performance by the top order to post a chal-lenging total of 319/3 in an innings affected by rain twice -- and con-sequently shor tened to 48 overs.Top-order batsmen Rohit Sharma A(91 runs in 119 balls), skipperVirat Kohli (81 not out), Shikhar Dhawan (68 runs in 65 balls) andYuvraj Singh (53 runs in 32 balls) were the major contributors. Fur-ther rain interruptions forced the match officials to revise the target to289 runs off 41 overs according to the DL method.Pakistan were bowled out for 164 in 33.4 overs, thanks to precisebowling from paceman Umesh AYadav (3/30), medium pacer HardikPandya (2/43) and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja (2/43). "India-Pakistan is always a big game, and I think it has set us up really well.Hopefully we'll take this confidence into the next game against SriLanka," Yuvraj said, upon being adjudged player of the match. Talkingabout his whirlwind knock, the left-hander felt that the foundationprovided by the openers set the stage for him perfectly to showcasehis power-hitting. "I thought we all batted really well. The openers

gave us a good star t, Virat finished well, and it gave me the oppor tu-nity to go and attack. You just have to go and back yourself, and tellthe opposition that you're here to attack," he said. "I was lucky I wasdropped, but I capitalised and I was hitting it well. I finished well."

Bowlers give India strong chance to defend CT title: LaxmanNEW DELHI, (IANS) Terming young pacers Jasprit Bumrah andBhuvneshwar Kumar as among the best death overs bowlers in worldcricket, former star batsman V.V.S Laxman said a powerful bowlingline-up gives India a strong chance to defend their Champions Trophytitle. Laxman said that skipper Virat Kohli will be depending on thesetwo bowlers because of their current form and the pace-friendly con-ditions in England which is hosting the Champions Trophy from June1 to 18. Kumar scalped three wickets in each of the two warm-upmatches that India played against New Zealand and Bangladesh whileBumrah was economical."India has got four quality fast bowlers andalong with that they have got two quality spinners in (Ravichandran)Ashwin and (Ravindra) Jadeja; it's impor tant to pick up wickets notonly with the new ball but also with the middle overs. "And I believe

that Virat Kohli will depend a lot on Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, possibly two of the best death bowlers in world cricket, to bowl wellat the end," Laxman told IANS."So I think Virat Kohli has got luxury and options from which he canchoose the best playing combination depending on the surfaces theteam is going to play on and also the weather conditions. "I believethat India has got a very good chance of defending the ChampionsTrophy. The way they played in both the warm-up games, the batsmenare in good form, but the bowlers have been very ruthless," the formerright-handed batsman added. India are placed in Group B along withPakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka. The defending champions willstar t their Champions Trophy campaign on June 4 against arch-rivalsPakistan at Edgbaston.
