SUSAN BASS BOLCH, Secretary of RaceTrac Petroleum, Inc., received her Bachelor of Arts degree in history and philosophy with high honors and departmental honors in 1973 from Barnard College of Columbia University. Mrs. Bolch also received a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1977, where she was an editor of The American Criminal Law Review. Mrs. Bolch was an associate for five years with the Washington, D.C. law firm of Collier, Shannon, Rill and Scott during which time she specialized in energy law. Following her marriage to Carl Bolch, Jr., she moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she became a senior associate in litigation with the law firm of King and Spalding. In 1982, she assumed the position of General Counsel to RaceTrac Petroleum, Inc., which she held for two years. In 1983, she became Secretary of the Corporation and is currently on the Board of Directors. Susan served as an adjunct professor of American History at Georgia State University from 1994 to 1995. She is a member of the Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and Georgia Bar Associations, as well as being admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of Camp Sunshine for over 25 years, and Chairman of the Board and a Trustee of The Boys and Girls Club of Collier County in Naples, Florida since 2017. Carl and Susan recently founded the Bolch Judicial Institute at Duke University and currently serve on its board. Susan enjoys writing, and recently published an illustrated children’s book, “Cousins,” in 2017, and a novel, “The Cufflink,” in 2018. Susan and Carl have five children, three of whom are active in the family business. They currently have six grandchildren, and will be grandparents to seven in the next few weeks. They enjoy traveling between Florida and Atlanta.
