Panel Discussions

Industry Panel Discussion: Improving Effectiveness and Productivity – Automation and Machine LearningConsidering the future trends towards automation & machine learning, deliberate on the possibility of automating the geospatial & cadastre data collection and maintenance & how it will impact the industrial growth of geospatial technology.

Government Panel Discussion: Open Data & the Economy of Innovation & Entrepreneurship

Deliberate on the benefits of open data for government functioning, business decisions and citizen services. The opportunities and challenges for an open data regime including the cost of data maintenance, IPR, data privacy and authenticity. Role of businesses in an open data platform and its impact on the economic growth and development.

Conference Sessions Thrust for Map DataWith everything getting digital by coming together of IoT, Cloud, Big Data, AI, the significance of map data is getting central to the rise of ‘the digital engine’ and the future living. The session will focus on the emerging scenarios of different machines interacting with each other and with humans and how map data will be a key factor in guiding these interactions and make it achievable.

Making Sense of Big DataThe exponential increase in data from satellite images, aerial photos, UAVs, terrestrial scanning, 3 D cloud as well as the non-spatial data from sensors, machines, have raised concerns over their access and authenticity of the same. The session will focus on how machine learning will help in getting sense from such voluminous data and the role of location in giving this sense.

National Security and ResilienceThe coming age of digital is going to hugely impact the national security, with multifaceted threats and hazards coming from everywhere and anywhere. The session will focus on how geospatial data, services, solutions and analytics should advance to support national security.

Environment, Climate Resilience & SDGsWith Earth Systems reeling under the pressure of increasing climatic variability, environmental pollution, massive land cover transformations, significance of earth observation on an ongoing basis is a necessity now. From building Smart Infrastructure to Smart Cities to Smart Grids, striking a balance and sustainability are two key words to look out for. The session will focus on the importance of geospatial information in achieving the balance and supporting the sustainable development goals for a climate resilient and environment friendly future both in rural as well as urban areas.

National Mapping and Surveying in the Age of Digital DisruptionThe paradigm change in collection of geospatial information and emerging trends of automated mapping and maintenance of map data will help evolve the national mapping and surveying in the country. Further the change in user requirements and also the shift in delivery platforms as well as the formats of data delivery, how organisations both public and private will adapt to these changes is a topic worth for discussion.

Overview

Survey and Mapping Association (SAMA) embarks on a new partnership with Wo-Men Geospatial Coterie (WGC) to present its Fourth Flagship Conference ‘Survey India 2017’ for building a dynamic and all-inclusive platform to explore new horizons for survey and mapping technologies. With ‘Digital’ becoming the key word for everything and anything and ‘Maps’ being at the core of this ‘Digital Transformation,’ Survey India 2017 will focus on how survey and mapping domain will leverage this revolution and unfold the new dimensions to drive the future technology initiatives.

Survey India 2017 aims to bring together individuals and organisations who have zeal and passion for Maps and Geospatial Information (GI), to discuss, deliberate and explore the new paradigms that has been set open with the coming age of ‘Digital Disruption.’ The new dimensions opened up through the coming together of different technologies both spatial and non-spatial such as LiDAR, UAVs, IoT, AI, Deep Learning, are creating a huge data and information repository. These together with Big Data Analytics and Business Intelligence have opened up zillionth horizons for the use of Maps and Geospatial Technologies. The objective of Survey India 2017 is to enable survey and mapping technologies to come together and display their capabilities in the emerging scenario at one place. The conference will address the changing paradigms in technology domain with coming together of AI, Big Data, IoT and Geospatial Technologies that include Survey and Mapping.
