Hello all involved in Girlguiding Surrey East.

There is something for everyone in this week’s edition.

From our County Day at Reigate College on the 4th of March where various qualifications are on offer along with a free lunch and may be just a chill time for leaders who have come along to support others, to the outdoor and activity team . Carole and many others have been working hard behind the scenes to allow for a new Open Door approach so if you forget, it’s not the end of the world; there will still be something available to you. Book County Leaders Day Training Here

There’s a feathered approach with the RSPB day at Pulborough , more details can be found on the Laser web site here : http://www.girlguidinglaser.org.uk/events/

For the outdoor ladies and girls among you there is the come and try Rugby day at Cobham Rugby club which promises to be a real action packed ( and no doubt muddy ) day for those athletic ladies. Come and be part of 200 young girls giving the game a try! Parents most welcome on the side-lines for all that try scoring! (See advert later in this update) - Leaders I am sure will be allowed to have cameras at the ready for the photography competition next term!!

Or if this is too much adventure then Cudham has a Four seasons Brownie day - again all details on their web site along with their badge competition full details :- http://www.girlguidinglaser.org.uk/events/

Thank you for all you do in Girlguiding, I look forward to meeting you all as I travel around the county.

BADGE OPPORTUNITY My name is Hannah Hopcroft and in July I am taking part in my second LaSERIO volunteer trip, I will be travelling to Belize for 3 weeks (on the 18-26 trip) and working with an organisation called Liberty in a place called Ladyville. Whilst in Ladyville, we will be living and working in the Liberty Children's home. Liberty Children’s Home cares for up to forty abandoned and abused children, many of whom also have HIV/AIDS and special needs. It provides an environment where children are respected, nurtured and treated as individuals. This will be a fantastic experience for me and the rest of the team - we would also like to make a real difference and do a 'culture share' with the Belizean girl guides too!

To help raise funds we have created an activity pack and badge, aimed at members in guiding from Rainbows through to Senior Section. I am more than happy to visit units in Surrey East area and give a presentation on my experiences with LaSERIO (as I was on the 2015 trip to Vietnam) and work with the units to engage them with some of the fantastic games, activities and learning resources we have come up with in our activity pack. I will also be doing various fundraising events over the next few months and can involve people from the area in these. The activity pack is free to use, however we are selling our badges for £2 each to raise funds.

I look forward to meeting you soon
