Surprise Opera at the Market

On Saturday, April 24th, the Opera Company of Philadelphia teamed up with the Reading Terminal Market Italian Festival for a large-scale "Flash Opera" event! Over 30 members of the Opera Company of Philadelphia Chorus and principal cast members of LA TRAVIATA performed the famed "Brindisi" entertaining hundreds of Philadelphians, and proving that the perfect accompaniment for all things Italian is a little Verdi!

On March 24, Domingo-Cafritz Young Artists surprised shoppers at a busy Whole Foods when, dressed as store clerks, they burst into song with Verdi's Brindisi from La Traviata. Why? To bring opera out of the opera house and into everyday lives, promote their upcoming performance with the Baltimore Symphony, and show people that opera's fun.
