Classification of grinding machines

The surface grinding is a special type of grinding process.

In this process , by holding work piece on the table, by the surface or perimeter of rotating grinding wheel , material can be removed by the abrasive grinding action is used in surface grinding.

WORKING PRINCIPLE OF surface grinding PROCESS

Surface grinding machine generally consists of a base, table, wheel head, and mechanism for providing motion to wheel & work piece in desired direction.

The table holds the work piece and provides necessary feed.

Wheel head provides power to the grinding wheel & supports the mechanism providing vertical & cross movement to the wheel.

As per table movement & spindle axis machine can be divided into four types.
