Lateral Area of a Cylinder:

The L.A. is the cylinder without the circular bases.

L.A. = 2rh

Find the Lateral Area:

The radius of the base of a cylinder is 4 in. and its height is 6 in. What is the Lateral Area?

L.A. = (2r)(h) = 2(4)(6) = 48 in2
