Welcome

Welcome to the Newport mansions Wine & Food Festival!

trudy CoxeCeO & executive DirectorThe Preservation Society of Newport County

Joie de vivre is what this festival is all about – the zestful enjoyment of life. And what better way to celebrate the good things in life than with great food and drink? Our 16th annual Newport mansions Wine & Food Festival serves up an abundance of opportunities to pamper your palate and expand your knowledge.Appropriately, Joie de Vivre is the theme of the first of our elegant wine dinners at Rosecliff, a journey through the cuisine and wines of La Belle France brought to us by Kobrand Fine Wine and Spirits. The next evening, we change course toward home with “A Celebration of Newport Chefs,” presented by three of the brightest stars of our outstanding local restaurant scene. Then on Sunday morning, we relax – in a sophisticated way, of course – with the always-popular Brunch & Bubbly on the Rosecliff Terrace, featuring a range of refreshing wines from Santa Margherita. This year, we have assembled an amazing array of tasting seminars to take participants around the world of wine. The itinerary centers on France and Italy, but also touches down in Spain, South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Oregon and California. It all opens with the tantalizing Champagne Taittinger Seminar & French Omelette Demonstration on Friday morning. Other highlights include a series presented by Santa Margherita, from “An Italian Love Story” to two “Mosaics” of wonderful Italian whites and reds. And it’s not just wine that will be poured and enjoyed. Seminars also will explore Beers of the World, the Heritage of Mount Gay Rum, Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Tequila Herradura and Inverroche South African Craft Gin.In addition, we are again pairing with local restaurants to present a series of special luncheons and dinners matched with great wines and craft cocktails. This Restaurant Program is hosted by 7 fine dining establishments with the support of Festival Sponsor BankNewport. Our thanks go to our loyal sponsors who make this world-class festival possible, with particular gratitude to longtime Presenting Sponsor Food & Wine magazine. And we also thank you, our festival guests. You are here not only to raise a glass and celebrate joie de vivre, but also to support The Preservation Society of Newport County, a nonprofit organization that is vital to Rhode Island’s cultural life and economy. All proceeds from the festival go directly to the preservation, protection and presentation of our historic houses and landscapes.Cheers and bon appetit!
