DEFINITION OF INDUCTION:

The Support Staff Induction Program at the Christian Family & Children’s Center is a process designed to help new support staff members get the training he or she needs during the first year of employment at the Center, as well as develop personally and professionally. The Administration at the Christian Family & Children’s Center does not hire employees to do their own thing! Rather, the various personalities of the individual employees must be exhibited within the confines and overall direction of the Christian Family & Children’s Center's philosophy. Our Mission Statement at the Christian Family & Children’s Center is the foundation for all programs including the Induction Program. The induction plan shall reflect a mentor relationship between the first year employee and the induction team. RATIONALE: It is our belief that the early experiences of a beginning employee or an employee in a new assignment are critical to their development. Both attitude and style are likely to be established during the first year of employment. It is imperative that support and guidance be given to employees as they are faced with new tasks, new relationships, new rules, and many other challenging situations during their first year in a new assignment. These employees need assistance with both managerial skills and development of strategies and approaches that will meet the needs of the Center. It is of particular importance that the philosophy, mission, and goals of the Christian Family & Children’s Center be transmitted to employees who are new to the Christian ministry environment or our Center. ASSESSMENT OF NEED FOR INDUCTION: New and first year employees at the Christian Family & Children’s Center have special needs that must be addressed if employees are to be successful in conforming to the Mission Statement of our Center. In general, new employees need the following:

Orientation to the institution

Development and improvement of professional skills

Student management techniques

Personal and emotional support

Advice on resources and material

Information on Center policies

Development of Technology Skills

Techniques of communication and information transmission at the Center Given the above needs, a mentor will be supplied to employees enrolled in the Induction Program. A meeting place and time will be selected for regular support meetings between the inductee and his or her mentor. Forms will be supplied which will facilitate reporting and record keeping. Subjects of concern and projected plans to address these subjects are to be recorded during each meeting.
