Information enhancement through digital platform The development of the mobile internet platform facilitates Breakthrough to explore different kinds of electronic books, which in turn broadens the reading experience of the new generation. Meanwhile, “Breakazine!” covers special topics such as theology reflection and cultural information, creating an information- enriched online platform for youngsters. Such information is also published on the Uzone21.com Blog, social websites and video channel on web, fostering greater youth participation and offering opportunities to hold discussions on values of various issues. This, together with International Youth Videos Festival, workshops etc, produce youth videos to collect the youth voices and respond to the contemporary context. “Breakthrough my comfort zone“ After reading the very first issue of “Breakazine!”, I applied to work as a volunteer at once. Throughout the experience of visiting the sheltered workshop for the blinds, I happened to approach a social group that could rarely be reached. This experience made me realize that my knowledge about Hong Kong was just at a very superficial level. There are so many people and things yet to explore. In the future, I wish to participate in more similar activities so that I can explore my inner-self, walk out of my own comfort zones and get to know things that happen around me. Raymond Tong, Volunteer from “Breakazine!” “Journey of Internship“ I started my amazing internship journey in External Affairs Unit for a month when I came back from Australia for summer holiday in the late 2009. During this period, I not only learnt the working skills and techniques, but also experienced the unique culture of Breakthrough deeply. The staff here speak for Christ, listen to Christ and live as Christ. Thanks Lord for giving me the chance to work with this community. Cherrie Lau, Internship of External Affairs Unit “The blessing of walking together“ Writing has always been God’s given blessing and mission for me. Through words, I attempt to encourage youngsters to cherish everything around them and to head towards their dreams. Throughout the past seven years of walking with the Breakthrough Publishing Unit for the publication of six fictions, I experienced the most extraordinary times that were even more dramatic and moving than the story plot of the fictions. Nevertheless, I am really blessed to have the fellows of Breakthrough walking with me throughout all those difficult times with love as well as protection. Jason Chan, Author from Breakthrough Publishing Unit “Difficulties inspire the potentials in life“ My participation in volunteering for the rehabilitation work in Sichuan was full of infinite gratitude. I was grateful for the miracles that came one after another in my life; the stories behind every single face which have enriched my life; the mentors for letting us experience how life can deeply influence others; the way that children have helped me believe that every life has the potential to heal and achieve; the way that disasters have enabled me to learn that, beyond every single difficulty, there lies the purity, virtue and beauty of life. Zeng Yan, Volunteer for Psychological Rehabilitation in Sichuan “"Debriefing" – a gift of communication“ Throughout my participation of this course, I have discovered the treasures and possibilities in life. For me, who is rather weak in creativity, feel as if I have found the rainbow in my life which bring me colors. Apart from volunteering as a youth mentor in Breakthrough, I also participate in leading debriefing sessions in bible-study group and activities in church. Debriefing has become part of my life, serving as the bridge to communicate with the others and the stairway to a beautiful life. Priscilla Li, Candidate from “Certificate course in Debriefing” “Learning and making contributions” Apart from church, Breakthrough was the first Christian organization that I encountered. At the beginning, the voluntary work was just a need from the church. Through the voluntary experience, I wished to learn and hence to contribute to church afterwards. In the past few years, I learnt how to give and take, to focus, to accept and to contribute. Moreover, from the lives of other volunteers, I witnessed God’s work and gained support and encouragement from their testimonies.
