This vaccine trial is a critical ste' in the 'rocess of a vaccine +ein& made availa+le for the 'rotection oflives +oth e(uine and most im'ortantly human. Horses act as an intermediary host for the virus %hich canthen +e transmitted to humans. The human fatality rate currently stands at 69:.
The availa+ility of an e(uine vaccine %ould effectively +rea7 the chain and not only 'rotect horses fromthis virus +ut most im'ortantly %ould &reatly reduce the ris7 of transmissions occurrin& from horses tohumans.
