SUPPLIES substrate of choice (I used 8x10 canvas board) White Gesso Crackle paste Flash paper (optional although super fun :) Artgraf water soluble graphite (earth tones) can use any water soluble media you like. Acrylic paint for background (Quinacridone/nickel about gold, highflow raw umber, and metallic Cooper tempts paint) any of these can be substituted, choose maybe three colors that speak to you) Hookers green & white gesso Stabilo all pencil in black Black and white china markers Golden Self leveling gel Golden gloss varnish Something you will probably want do to before you add crackle paste is, use gesso or acrylic paint on your substrate first, to insure crackle paste adheres well. We will start with adding crackle paste to our substrate of choice, allow to dry at least 24 hours up to 3 days, if you add a thick layer. The thinner the paste, more cracks and less drying time. This is preference in how you like your cracks lol! Also it is not necessary to use crackle paste, you can use molding paste adding stencils or found objects to create texture. Or you do not even have to use any texture medium. Next we will add acrylic paint (whatever colors are calling to you) spread over substrate and use rubbing alcohol to wipe off excess, or you can leave more color down, again whatever effect you like best. If you want to forgo the crackle paste or other mediums for texture, you could use a muted background of acrylics or watercolors of you choosing. If you have flash paper, or want to get some next we will write 3 or more intentions of what you would like to achieve right now in your life, things you are working on or want to work on. These can also be affirmations. Burn directly into your painting. This paper will not burn you. Sketch our girl with stabilo all black pencil (or charcoal, whatever you prefer to sketch with) add artgraf (or any water soluble media like watercolor, acrylic, inktense, neon colors or gelatos would work) to create a loose abstract face. After drying time we will spray artwork with a fixative and add layer of golden self leveling clear gel. You can write whatever you are feeling in the moment. You can write as much as you want. If you do not have flash paper or don't want to buy any, you can write on regular paper and burn outside in a safe container. This is also very therapeutic. To finish this painting I used golden gloss varnish. You can add any varnish (Matt, satin or gloss) you prefer to finish your painting.
