SUPPLIERS OF MERCY

The baptisms that John gave were not

something very original. In fact it was a

purification rite that was practiced in Israel since

ancient times. It is amazing how in different

cultures rites of purification are given to be freed

from sins that hinder in the conscience of every

human being, who feel weighed because of them

and need forgiveness. These rituals range from

washing the body with water, sweating in a steam

bath, and even mutilating or flagellating.

Awareness is a gift from God that makes a human

being always look for what is right and when he

does not, his conscience demands it. It is for this

reason that people looked to John, to be purified and to ask what had to be done, corresponding to the individuals’

role to work honestly and generously.

This jubilee year is the year of Mercy. It invites us to take advantage of the immense love of God, who does not

want the death of sinners, but rather to repent and live. God is always ready to forgive; He will never reject a contrite

and repentant heart. A sin, however serious it may be, will never be bigger than the love God has for us.

Pope Francis reminds us that God never becomes tired when forgiving us. We are the ones who become tired

of apologizing.

This jubilee year, the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, as in the cathedrals and churches designated,

some remain open for visitors to go to them to find God's mercy and receive the forgiveness of sins. This Holy Year

also has the character of doing and acting with mercy. As indicated by John the Baptist to those who resorted to it.

He who has two coats, one that does not. Do your job well, do not extort anyone nor make false accusations, be

content with your pay, and complete your duties.

Do things right, to straighten our paths in order to let the Lord come to us and we deliver it to the others.

Strive to be merciful to those in need, not only the material, but the affection, companionship and friendship.

Let us give what is ours to those in need, let us also give warmth and quality of time to those closest to us beginning

with our family and continuing with the most abandoned, prisoners, the sick, and the elderly. Remember what God

prefers:

El Bautismo que Juan daba, no era algo muy

original. De hecho era un rito de purificación que se

practicaba en Israel desde la antigüedad. Es sorprendente

cómo en las diversas culturas se dan ritos de purificación

para liberarse de los pecados que en la conciencia de todo

ser humano pesan y necesitan ser perdonados. Estos ritos

van desde el lavarse el cuerpo con agua, sudar en un baño de

vapor, hasta mutilarse o flagelarse. La conciencia es un

regalo de Dios que hace que el ser humano busque siempre

el bien y, cuando no lo hace, su conciencia le reclama. Es por

eso, que la gente buscaba a Juan, para ser purificados y para

preguntarle que había que hacer, a lo que responde a cada

uno de acuerdo a su oficio para trabajar honestamente y con

generosidad.

Este año jubilar, es el año de la Misericordia. Nos

invita a tomar ventaja del inmenso amor de Dios que no

quiere la muerte del pecador, sino que se arrepienta y que

viva. Dios siempre está dispuesto a perdonar y un corazón

contrito y arrepentido nunca lo rechaza. Nunca un pecado,

por muy grave que este sea, será más grande que el Amor que Dios nos tiene.

El Papa Francisco nos recuerda que Dios nunca se cansa de perdonarnos. Somos nosotros los que nos

cansamos de pedir perdón.

Este año jubilar, la Puerta Santa de la Basílica de San Pedro en Roma, al igual que en las Catedrales y algunas

Iglesias designadas, permanecen abiertas para que los peregrinos pasen por ellas a encontrarse con la Misericordia de

Dios y recibir el perdón de nuestros pecados; pero también, este año santo tiene el carácter de HACER y ACTUAR con

misericordia. Como lo indica Juan el Bautista a los que recurrían a él. El que tenga dos túnicas, de una al que no

tiene. Hagan bien su trabajo, no extorsionen a nadie, ni hagan falsa acusaciones, confórmense con su paga, cumplan

con su deber¨.

Hagamos las cosas bien, enderecemos nuestros caminos para dejar que el Señor venga a nosotros y nosotros

se lo entreguemos a los demás.

Procuremos ser misericordiosos con los más necesitados, no sólo de lo material, sino del afecto, el

compañerismo y la amistad. Demos de lo nuestro a quien lo necesita, pero también demos cariño y calidad de tiempo

a los más cercanos, empezando por nuestra familia y siguiendo con los más abandonados, los presos, los enfermos ,

los ancianos. Recordemos lo que Dios prefiere:

MISERICORDIA QUIERO, MAS QUE SACRIFICIOS.

SEGUNA COLECTA ESTA SEMANA.-

La segunda colecta de esta semana será en favor

del Fondo para la Jubilación de Religiosos. Muchas

comunidades no cuentan con ahorros suficientes para la

jubilación y cuidados geriátricos. Su donativo

proporciona fondos para recetas médicas, enfermeros y

más. Por favor, sean Generosos.

POSADA.- El Domingo 20 de Diciembre a las 7:00 p.m. Tendremos la Celebración de una Posada tradicional, con velitas, cantos, piñatas, tamales y ponche. Ven y diviértete con toda tu familia en la Parroquia de San José o el Miércoles de Diciembre a las 6:00 p.m. en Lee Vining.

FIESTA NAVIDEÑA EN LA RECTORIA.- A manera de agradecimiento por sus servicios, el Padre Jorge

quiere reunirse con todos lo que colaboran de manera activa

en diferentes servicios para la Iglesia, tanto en la música, la

Liturgia, la limpieza, mantenimiento, administración, etc. El

Martes 22 de Diciembre a las 6 p.m. Por favor trae algún

bocadillo para compartir.

MISA DE UNCION DE LOS ENFERMOS.- Este Año de la Misericordia, queremos comenzarlo con la atención de quienes merecen nuestro cariño, tolerancia y misericordia. Por eso tendremos esta Misa en la que daremos la unción con el Oleo Santo a quienes padecen alguna enfermedad grave o crónica. Si no pueden venir a la Misa, por favor comuníquense con el Padre Jorge para ir a visitarles a su domicilio.

La Misa será el Sábado 19 de Diciembre a las 12 p.m. en la Parroquia de San José.

CHRISTMAS PARTY IN RECTORY - In appreciation for all services, Father Jorge wants to meet with everyone actively collaborating in different ways such as: music, liturgy, cleaning, maintenance, administration, etc.. On Tuesday, December 22 at 6 pm. Please bring a snack to share.

Jorge know to anoint them at there homes. The Mass will be on Saturday, December 19 at 12:00 p.m. in Saint Joseph Church.
