Total Performance

High performance is an essential ingredient for all building components nowadays - it is demanded by users and required by current building regulations. Throughout our history we have kept ahead of both the market and regulatory requirements to offer glazing solutions that surpass even the most demanding specifications, and our products meet or exceed all required standards of performance. We have developed leading-edge production techniques to ensure that manufacturing efficiency is optimised, and environmental impact is minimised, and our right-first-time quality management systems have been devised to minimise waste and exceed the requirements of current ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.

Why Aluminium?

Aluminium is the perfect material for architectural glazing products, and has practical advantages over all other available choices, including inherent resistance to corrosion and very low whole-life costs. Aluminium is also an environmentally friendly material and possibly one of the best options for energy saving within the construction industry. In the building sector vast amounts of aluminium are collected for recycling, with rates as high as 98%, and more than 50% of the energy used in aluminium production comes from hydro-electric power. Re-smelting aluminium saves up to 95% of the energy needed to produce primary product. The overall market for used aluminium is steadily growing so the more aluminium there is in a product the more chance it has of being recycled.

Kawneer is unique in that 80% of all the aluminium used in the production of our systems comes from recycled material. This has assisted Kawneer in the implementation of our BES 6001 accreditation, which we secured during 2016.

IntroductionThe AA®720 Juliet Balcony is designed to suite with the AA®720 open-in window system to provide a simple elegant and affordable glazed balcony with a virtually seamless external visual appearance.A purpose designed partially-glazed profile that directly attaches to the main AA®720 window frame as part of the window fabrication process.Equally suited to both residential and commercial applications, the Kawneer Juliet Balcony is a turnkey solution that completely eliminates the need for additional subcontractor work, as it is totally self-contained and does not interface with any other element of the building structure.The Kawneer AA®720 Juliet Balcony has been fully tested to:BS 6180:2011 - Line Load and Point Load and BS EN 13049:2003 - Impact Test, Classification 5. It is manufactured from a minimal number of components, enhancing cost effectiveness and ease of installation.

Surface FinishesOver 130 standard and metallic Kawneer Permacover paint finishes are available. A range of standard and coloured anodised finishes are also available. Colour samples are available on request from the Architectural Services Team at Runcorn. The finished and coatings are covered by standard guarantees, 30 years gloss and 30 years matt and metallic and up to 25 years for anodised. Guarantees are subject to applications and Kawneer acceptance in marine, industrial, swimming pools or other aggressive atmospheres.

Fabrication and InstallationAll Kawneer products are fabricated and installed by a network of trained and approved Kawneer specialist contractors, offering national support at a local level. The Kawneer Training Centre provides specific product knowledge training, installer training, registration and certification in accordance with the CWCT (Centre for Window & Cladding Technology). For contractors in your area, contact the Architectural Services Team at Runcorn.

Wedge gasketvaries to suit glass thickness.Refer to glazing chart.

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURESteps 13-19 to be carried out AFTER installation of unit into building structure where suitable glass clearance is available.Where no glass clearance is available, steps 13-19 to be carried out BEFORE installation of unit into building structure. 13. Carefully position glass and slide into both vertical side rails ensuring equal gaps at both ends (reposition glass if necessary).14. Apply wedge gasket into vertical side rails - cut 4.0mm short from top face.15. Insert wedge packers 6003 824 into side rails at both ends of glass, ensuring packer fin sits on top of glass.16. Apply sealant inside rebate and to top face of vertical side rails.17. Apply sealant to underside of Top Caps 6003 835 ensuring locator legs of Top Cap are also covered.18. Place Top Caps 6003 835 on top of both vertical side rails and push down ensuring good tight fit.19. Remove excess sealant.

General Fixing Notes:- i) Building substrate must be suitable to accommodate fixings and fixing lugs.ii) The door frame is to be square and true, the threshold must be level.iii) Frames fixed into structure with fixing intervals of 400mm Max. centres and 150mm Max. in from ends. Sufficient packing shims should be placed around direct fixings to avoid distortion of the window frame when fixings are tightened.iv) When fixing with fixing lugs, frames shall be suitably packed in the aperture, so as not to impose an unnecessary loading on the fixing lug. When bending fixing lugs to sit against the wall the bend radii in the lug should be large enough so that metal is not fractured.v) Fixings should be suitable for the structure and be sufficient to sustain the loadings calculated in accordance with current regulations.vi) Perimeter sealant and backer rods should be installed in accordance with manufacturers instructions.
