(StatePoint) Holiday travel is slated to reach post-recession highs this year, with more than 68 million Americans traveling this season. Fortunately, your most helpful tool to make winter travel less stressful is right in your pocket: your smartphone. Not only does it make planning your perfect trip easier, your phone can keep you con-nected and entertained when you’re away. Here are some tips to optimize your phone before you go.

Download Travel AppsApps like FlightAware, Google Maps and LoungeBuddy can keep you apprised of gate and flight changes, estimate traffic and plot travel routes and help you locate

the best places to rest before your flight. There are even apps like SitOrSquat, for locating nearby bathrooms!Maximize Your Storage

Cell phone cameras are more powerful than ever, and the average smartphone holds thousands of photos and videos of your cherished memories. You don’t want to run out of storage space, so get the right MicroSD card for your phone before you depart. You can also set up cloud storage services so your pictures are automatically uploaded and secured.

Check Your Mobile PlanSome mobile plans have designated perks for travelers. For example, T-Mobile ONE gives international travelers unlimited data and texting along with cheap, flat-rate

calling in more than 140 countries and destinations. That means no wasting time or money searching for public Wi-Fi or purchasing an international SIM card. Plus, since unlimited data and texting are included, you can communicate without worrying about surprise overage fees.

Also, on flights equipped with Gogo In-flight Internet, all T-Mobile ONE customers can send texts, picture messages and check Visual Voicemail in the air – and they get one hour of free internet (or for the entire flight with T-Mobile ONE Plus). More information is available at www.t-mobile.com/one.

Get the Right Phone AccessoriesWhen you’re managing a bunch of luggage and other travel gear, it’s easier to drop your device, so keep your smartphone safe with a screen protector and a case that’s

sturdy and practical. Some cases have non-slip materials that make them easier to grip and include storage for credit cards. Or try a PopSocket collapsible grip which doubles as a built-in stand – that’ll come in handy if you’re watching a movie on the plane or in your hotel room.

Bring Your Own EntertainmentNearly one in five flights are delayed during the holiday season and that can make for boring and stressful waits. Head to Amazon or your app store to download some

shows and movies before your trip (especially key when traveling with kids!) so you can watch when Wi-Fi is unavailable, and find a few games that can be played offline, too, like UnblockMe and Plants vs. Zombies. When you do have an internet connection, you can stream Netflix for free on a T-Mobile ONE family plan.

With smart planning and accessories for your phone, holiday travel becomes much less stressful, and you can save yourself from racking up surprise fees for extras and overages.

5 Ways to Ease Holiday Travel Stress With Your Phone

(StatePoint) It’s the gift-giving season and rather than give generic pres-ents to everyone you love, consider thoughtful items that will make their lives easier and hobbies more fulfilling.

TravelersTravel lovers on your holiday shopping list? Frequent fliers will appreciate

customized luggage tags that will make spotting bags a cinch. Add comfort to all those redeye flights with a memory foam neck pillow. Newer models even offer features like pockets for smartphones and built-in earbuds.

Runners / DogwalkersNot everyone is exploring the neighborhood in the dark, but runners and

dogwalkers often are, especially when days are short. Consider brightening their way to make adventures safer with a headlight. For bright light of up to 180 lumens, the Energizer Vision HD headlight is an affordable, practical stocking stuffer. To light the path for both owner and pet on those wintry nights, the headlight features three light modes and pivoting functionality to direct light where one needs it. It’s also weather resistant and drop-tested up to 1 meter to stand up to harsh conditions. Running at sunset or at sun-rise, an innovative smart-dimming feature provides users with maximum run-time to brighten hands-free activities at any time of the day.

YogisThere are many great gift options for those who love yoga. Consider a

personalized yoga mat, which you can design through an online site that lets you upload any image you want to create a meaningful gift. Select a picture of a beloved pet or a rendering of their favorite piece of artwork for a truly unique yoga mat. Or, help them take their practice to the next level with a gift certificate to a studio offering advanced classes, such as hot yoga or aerial yoga.

Outdoor AdventurersGive the gift of light to your favorite outdoor adventurer with an Ener-

gizer Vision HD performance metal light with Digital Focus. The one-press digital focus easily transitions from a full spotlight to a full flood light to help with fireside cooking or setting up the campsite. For hiking and climb-ing, the aluminum alloy exterior makes it a durable choice. Its impressive run-time, paired with powerful light output and a natural daylight color, make this flashlight a must-have gadget for those whose adventures include any kind of outdoor excursion. More information can be found at energizer.com/lighting.

This holiday season, thoughtful gift-giving can add light, comfort and personalized fun to loved ones’ busy lifestyles.

As many know, B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. has served seniors in Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna, and Tioga Counties through their home-deliv-ered meal program for forty years. Recently though, the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) has partnered with Meals on Wheels America to establish “Meals on Wheels Endless Mountains,” merging the same great meal-delivery service, with the name Americans have come to know best.

A celebration was held on July 25, 2017 at the Blue Ridge Senior Center to announce the rebranding. The Susquehanna County Commissioner Mary Ann Warren, volunteer home-delivered meals drivers, and AAA staff members attended the event, and enjoyed light refreshments and camaraderie.

Although there has been a change in the agency’s name of its meal program, there are no changes with the operation or mission of the organization. By renaming, the AAA hopes to share in the popularity and national recognition of Meals on Wheels, while continuing to deliver the same outstanding service home-delivered meal recipients expect. According to Executive Director, Marlea Hoyt, the rebranding to Meals on Wheels Endless Mountains will, “increase awareness of our nutrition program and opportunities for sponsorships. Since most people readily identify with Meals on Wheels, people may be more inter-ested in volunteering as meal drivers.”

Meals are delivered to elderly individuals’ homes from the Montrose, Lawton, Lanesboro, Great Bend and Forest City Senior Centers by volunteer driv-ers. Drivers receive mileage reimbursement of $.50/mile. During fiscal year 2016/17, 44,153 home-delivered meals were provided to 278 elderly Susquehanna County residents. Meals on Wheels Endless Mountains ensure not only a nutritious meal, but also a safety check and a friendly visit, helping reduce isolation for at-risk individuals.

Callers seeking home-delivered meals often ask, “Do you have Meals on Wheels?” Now B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. can reply, “Yes, we do!” For more information on the Area Agency on Aging, it’s Meals on Wheels Program or volunteer opportunities, call 1-800-982-4346 (toll free).

Grilled BrieIngredients:

Place cheese on a large piece of foil. Drizzle with about a tablespoon of olive

oil. Top the cheese with strawberries, then fold foil to cover the cheese completely.

Brush baguette slices with remaining olive oil.

Place the foil-wrapped brie and bread on the grill. Grill the cheese until melted, about 5-10 minutes, depending on the size of the wheel. Check it every few minutes. When it feels loose and soft to touch, it’s

time to remove from the grill. Flip the baguette slices as they turn golden brown, about 2 minutes and transfer toasted pieces

balsamic glaze and sprinkle basil on top. Enjoy with grilled bread.

smashed potato with salt and pepper, then sprinkle Parmesan on top.
