Wearalloy Super-Clad Pipe features a single pass chromium carbide overlay on the inside diameter of the standard wall pipe.

Welding – when joining Wearalloy Super-Clad Pipe, square cut the ends and follow these instructions.

PLATE TO PLATE JOINTS (BUTT JOINTS)Grind the ends of the plates to be joined, after cutting to size. Bevel the plate edges, leaving a 1/8” ‘land’ to prevent weld burn through into the hardfacing layer. Fit up and tack the beveled sections, then begin normal weld.

In some applications it is not possible to weld both sided, e.g. joining of two lengths of small diameter pipe. In this case the mild steel should be beveled and a root pass with an austenite stainless electrode (bi-metallic rod or wire) should be made, to insure that any contact with the hardfacing does not cause weld cracks.
