Sunshine Coast Tourism is attending Indaba 2016 at the
Durban ICC in May, one of the largest tourism marketing
events on the African calendar and one of the top three
‘must visit’ events of its kind on the global calendar.
It showcases the widest variety of Southern Africa's best
tourism products and attracts international buyers and media from across the
world. A number of appointments have already been set with international tour
operators. The area is marketed as part of the 7 wonders of the Eastern Cape
brand in a collective marketing effort with Sarah Baartman District Municipality and
surrounding tourism organizations.

Halyards / Mansfield transformed into a Movie Set
The film “Beautifully
Broken” due for re-
lease in March / April
2017 and based on a
true story is being
filmed in Port Alfred.
Produced by American
film production com-
pany Big Film Factory
in collaboration with
Frans Cronje of Global
Creative Studios and
River Group’s new
arm Faith Films.
Producer Chuck How-
ard of Big Film Factory
said that the story line
has taken 3 years to
complete and the
movie script 2 years
to write. The movie
has a haunting story
line and portrays great
forgiveness by the 3
families involved in
the Rwandan genocide
tragedy.
Over 200 extras have
been employed in the
making of this movie
in Port Alfred, creating
a cash injection into
the local communities.
CEO of the River
Group, Pastor Andre
Roeberts, explained
that scenes for the
film are being shot at
the Halyards Hotel
and Mansfield Game
Reserve. Other
scenes have been shot
at Xesi village near
East London and a riot
scene will be shot in
the city of East Lon-
don. The film will net
a R9 million injection
into South Africa.
Chuck Howard ex-
plained that although
the entire movie could
have been shot in the
USA, he felt that it
was vital to have Afri-
can accents and scen-
ery for authenticity.
The 3 American pro-
ducers are in South
Africa for the first time
and have been “blown
away” by the unspoilt
beauty and diversity
of the Eastern Cape.

Siza Vitality Half
Marathon, Port Alfred on 30 April 2016 in-cludes a 5km fun run this year. Encouraged by the success of the Half Marathon last year, the organisers have in-creased the value of the prizes, with over R130 000 up for grabs, medals for all finishers and free T-shirts to the first 500 finishers. The inclusion of a 5km Fun Run this

To boost the participa-tion, local schools have been incentivized to pro-mote the event. R5 000 will be handed over after the event to the school with the most number of participants.
200 SAPS participants have already entered as
part of a fitness training programme. Entries are now open on-line and registration takes place on 29 April and 30 April 2016. The race begins and ends at Port Alfred High School. For full details, click on www.sizavitality.co.za

The orphaned Rhino calves
Noelle and Binky are doing
well following the horrific
poaching incident at Sibuya
Game Reserve last month.
The calves are being rehabili-
tated at the Rhino Sanctuary,

company.
Sadly another poaching oc-
curred on the week-end of 23
April and a nearby reserve,
leaving a 3 month old orphan
traumatized. This orphan has
been moved to the Sibuya
Rhino Sanctuary and is inter-
acting with Noelle the Sibuya
