It was the weather in s0uthernCalifornia!• If hotels started breakfast at 4:00 A.M., would some of our customers be there waiting?• Bruce Schwerdt, who is one of 0ur diligent “home office” staff, was recently married to Dan-na. I want you to know Bruce played baseball in

college and that had nothing to do with his hiring at Sunrise Tours. Much happiness for many years to Bruce and Danna.• Folks that have travelled with us to the Green-brier Resort in West Virginia and the Homestead Resort in Virginia (they are less than 1 hour apart) are pretty evenly split on their preference. Both locations are lovely in my opinion.• Debbie Robertson is also in our home office and has worked at Sunrise Tours almost as Iong as me, or so it seems. That is not important! She was recently diagnosed with cancer. She missed very little time at the office during her treatment. She will always be a survivor. That is important!• Sunrise Tours may be closer to applesauce than it is to Apple Corporation, but we are growing as they are. That is what I hope you have concluded from reading this issue.• This has been a very good year! As I write this everyone is in the midst of the holiday season, per-haps gathering around the dining

table, family room or fire ring for friendly chats recalling moments of the past and conjuring plans for the future. It truly is a “Most wonderful Time of the Year”! I am now in the midst of a Sunrise holiday tour with Jim in Williamsburg and we too are sitting around the dining table getting to know new friends and sharing something we have in com-mon - travel. In fact, the initial idea for many Sunrise Tours come from travel stories shared around the dining table. Childhood travel dreams fulfilled or yet to be fulfilled, funny travel esca-pades and descriptions of wondrous travel sights keep the conversation lively and interesting. On this particular trip half of the travelers are from

the St. Louis area and half the Indianapolis area. I marvel at the frequency St. Louis travelers meet former classmates, work companions or distant cousins and now I can say the same for Indianap-olis. On this trip two classmates (one journeyd all the way from Houston) came together and unex-pectedly met a third classmate - what fun! As you read this, you are entering a new year. How fast time goes by. Did you make any plans for travel around the dining table? If not, it’s not too late and Sunrise Tours would love to help you fulfill your travel dreams. Day 3: Cajun CountrySome like it hot! Today we’ll explore some Cajun heat starting with tasting some of the ‘hot” fla-vors at McIlhenny Co. Tabasco factory. After a drive through McIlhenny’s Jungle Gardens, tour America’s oldest working rice mill, Konriko. In the afternoon the festivities begin at the Vermillion-ville Heritage and Folklife Park where live Cajun music and cultural demonstrations will captivate and a stop at the Acadian Cultural Center will ed-ucate. Day 4: French Quarter This morning as we make our way to New Or-leans, we’ll tour the only place in the world where the general public can walk aboard an authentic offshore drilling rig and hear real life stories at the International Petroleum Museum. Afterwards, go face to face with alligators on a swamp boat tour en route to New Orleans. Once in the Big Easy, take in the historic Jackson Square known as ‘Place d’Armes’, home of an open-air artist col-ony before checking into our hotel for a two-night stay in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Day 5: New Orleans, LABegin the day with a visit to The National WWII Museum, founded by noted writer and historian Stephen E. Ambrose. Experience the museum’s signature cinematic theater while viewing Ste-phen Spielberg’s “Beyond All Boundaries” and have an opportunity to hear stories of Veterans while viewing the exhibits. Enjoy jazz music as we have brunch at the world-famous Court of Two Sisters. Afterwards we head to the Garden Dis-trict for a guided walking tour of the area featur-ing one of the best preserved collections of south-

Day 6: Biloxi, MSWe’ll wander through the French Market, then stop in for a traditional beignet from the original Café du Monde. Next explore with a local guide to hear and see city highlights including land-marks, history and river lore. Day 7: Biloxi, MSVisit the renowned Bell-ingrath Gardens and home featuring a 65-acre estate and enjoy over 250,000 azaleas in full bloom! The remain-der of the afternoon is yours to enjoy the amenities of the Beau Rivage. B, D

Day 8: Biloxi, MSVisit Beauvoir (means “beautiful view”), home of Jefferson Davis, including the newly re-opened Presidential Library and enjoy a guided tour of Pleasant Reed House and Interpretive Center at the Ohr O’Keefe Museum, selected in the top 100 issue by TIME magazine for its Style and Design. Day 2: Washington DCWe continue east-ward, enjoying Sunrise Tours’ distinguished hospitality. Upon ar-rival in DC, we will gather our bags and make our home at the Courtyard by Marriott Capitol Hill. Staying in DC proper will afford us quicker access to the many sights of the city. Af-ter dinner, join us for a drive by the memorials lit in their evening grandeur. B, D

Day 3: Washington DCOne of the most prominent structures in DC is the Washington Monument. We will start our day with a tour of this 555 foot high obelisk. Af-terwards, we will embark on a sensational lunch cruise down the Potomac River. The magnificent views of DC and the Cherry Blossoms from our lux-ury cruising yacht coupled with exquisite food and music are sure to create lasting memories. This afternoon we will tour the historic and famous Arlington Cemetery including a visit to John F. Kennedy’s tomb and the Tomb of the Unknowns. The evening will be at leisure as we continue our

Day 5: Washington DCThis morning, we will visit the museum “New-seum”, a multimedia exploration of the impor-tance and history of journalism in America. Since it’s opening in 2008, the Newseum has become a “must-see” attraction on the Washington DC museum circuit. We’re in for a spectacular show as we spend the remainder of the day visiting the National Mall, the Memorials and enjoying the Cherry Blossom Festival activities amidst the

Upon arrival, board a cruise boat to visit one of the most historically significant sites in North America; Fort Sumter.

We will see the ruins of Historic Fort Sum-ter where the civil war began and a view of Charleston from the Harbor. Upon our return to the pier, we will tour the USS Yorktown. As featured in the Academy Award win-ning documentary “The Fighting Lady”, the 888 ft. aircraft carrier was the tenth carrier to serve in the US Navy. Day 5: Charleston, SCEmbrace the history of Charleston as we visit the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, an

On May 22, 2011 the city of Joplin, MO was devastated by a powerful tornado. Over a

hundred lives were lost and thousands of homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed. The community has come together to start the rebuilding process and they can use all of the help they can get. Day 5: Moosonee, ONThere is no road system to Moosonee, so this morning, it’s “all aboard” the Polar Bear Express train to travel 186 miles to the edge of the Arctic through rugged forests and wetlands, and across mighty rivers once navigated by aboriginals, ex-plorers and fur traders. Enroute you will have complete access to a new audio tour that was de-veloped in conjunction with the Discovery Chan-nel to aid you in learning about the area while on the train and in Moosonee. This evening, we will join our Cree Guide and board locally built boats

as he navigates us on the Moose River-one of the few rivers which flows south to north-for a ride to St. James Bay (weather permitting). You will be able to watch the fresh water mixing with the salt water as you approach the Bay and view a terrific sunset upon our return to

Lee accepted his Con-federate Army commission and the Confederate Congress met. Then it’s off to the Museum and White House of the Confederacy where you can examine artifacts from the confederacy and ex-perience the residence of Confederate President Davis. Day 1: Memphis, TN Traveling south we arrive in Memphis, TN and head to the AAA-four diamond Peabody Hotel for an overnight stay. We’ll watch the five North American mallards, also known as the famous “Peabody Ducks” march to the Grand Lobby in a tradition dating back to 1933. Afterwards, visit Graceland, all decorated like Elvis would have years ago. And, in keeping with his version of “The Blue Christmas” holiday classic, you will see hundreds of nostalgic blue lights all over the property framing his life size nativity scene. Even if you are not an Elvis fan, this Memphis icon is sure to draw a Christmas smile. D

Day 2: Pine Mountain, GAContinue southeast to Pine Mountain, GA to the brightest holiday light show in the south and our special yuletide 2-night stay at Callaway Gardens. B, D

Day 3: Callaway Gardens and moreWho coined the phrase “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”? FDR, of course, and today we will tour the only home he ever owned in en-chanting Warm Springs, GA. This afternoon, we pick up our personal guide to visit and learn about Callaway gardens, the Butterfly house and the Cason Memorial Chapel all gussied up for the holi-days. Tonight enjoy ABA’s top 100 event, Fantasy in Lights. Aboard the Jolly Trolley, this “sleigh” will guide us through this spectacular light show which includes over eight million glittering lights creating larger-than-life animated and live Christ-mas joyful scenes. Day 4: Southern Belle Cruise

Travel to Chattanooga, TN and another holiday southern treat. Enjoy a ‘Tis the Season relax-ing Southern Belle Luncheon cruise featuring slow-cooked Prime Rib, scenic views of the Ten-nessee River and live entertainment to get you in the spirit. Humming holiday tunes, we con-tinue our yuletide journey to the magical Gaylord Opryland Hotel for our evening and overnight stay. We have pick-up points to service the north, west, south and central areas of St. Louis metro-politan area and St. Charles and Illinois. All pick-up points allow parking for your ve-hicle. Sunrise’ pick up point partners offer the use of parking spaces during tour as a courtesy to Sunrise travelers. Neither Sun-rise Tours nor parking lot owners assume responsibility for incidents occurring to parked cars. You will be notified of which pick-ups we are using for your tour in a letter about 2 weeks prior to departure. If you would like to stay overnight before leaving on the tour, we can provide a hotel room at some of our pick-ups for a reduced rate. If our routing allows, we may pick up along the way in outlying areas. IdentificationA passport is required on any tour that leaves the United States, including Canada. Photo ID’s are required on all fly tours and recommended on all tours.Singles Requesting RoommatesIf you would like to go on tour with us, but do not have a roommate for a specific trip, let us know and we will match you with someone else (same sex of course). Just let us know at least 60 days before departure and we will room you with another traveler at the double rate. If there is no roommate available on the tour you request, you will still only have to pay the price of a double. If you decline the roommate assigned, you will be responsible for the single supple-ment. Of course, if you prefer to travel individually, you can still sign up for the sin-gle fare. This offer is not valid on cruises, and some select tours.Method of PaymentsFor deposits we accept checks or cash. For

final payment we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, check or cash.Seating on the MotorcoachSeating is assigned and will be rotated on a daily basis. Special seating requests are honored on the basis of availability.
