Sunnah Duas One

Should Never

Forget!

NOTE: Some Basic Duas that Maulana jee said we should become

regular in making this Ramandan and later. Dua books contain many

other and detailed duas, in addition to those mentioned here. But

the idea is to begin small and begin somewhere, and then take it

from there inshaAllah!

Dua before sleeping:

أموتوأحياباسمكاللهم

Transliteration: Allâhumma bismika amütu wa ahya.

Translation: O Allah, with Your name I die and live.

(Bukhari)

Dua upon waking up:

الحمدهللالذيأحياناب عدما أمات ناوإليهالنشور

Transliteration: Alhamdu lillaahil-lathee 'ahyaanaa ba'da maa

'amaatanaa wa'ilayhin-nushoor.

Translation: Praise is to Allah who gives us life after He

has caused us to die and to Him is the return.

Dua before beginning to eat:

Transliteration: Bismillâhi wabarakatillãh.

Translation: (I am eating) In the name of

Allah and with the blessings of Allah. (Hakim)

Dua after eating is finished:

أطعمنا الذى لله الحمد مسلمين لناوجع وسقانا

Transliteration: Al-hamdu lillãhilladhi at-amana’

wasaqãnâ waja-alana muslimin.

Translation: All praise is due to Allah (SWT) who

gave us food and drink and made us Muslims.

Dua when exiting Home:

لتعلىاهلل،ولحول بسماهلل،ت وك ةإل ولق و باهلل

Transliteration: Bismillaahi, tawakkaltu

'alallaahi, wa laa hawla wa laa quwwata ‘ illaa

billaah.

Translation: In the Name of Allah, I have

placed my trust in Allah, there is no might

and no power except by Allah.

Dua when entering Home:

بسماهللولجنا،وبسماهلللنا خرجنا،وعلىرب نات وك

Transliteration: Bismillaahi walajnaa, wa bismillaahi kharajnaa, wa

'alaaRabblnaa tawakkalnaa

Translation: In the Name of Allah we enter,

in the Name of Allah we leave, and upon our

Lord we depend [

*then say As-Salaamu 'Alaykum to those present].

Reference: Abu Dawud 4/325. Muslim {Hadith no. 2018)

says that one should mention the Name of Allah when

entering the home and when beginning to eat; and that

the devil, hearing this, says: "There is no shelter for us

here tonight and no food."
