At age 19 she had an unusual dream where she saw an elderly priest at a distance who turned and looked at her. In a second dream the same elderly priest appeared and this time spoke to her about her good care for the elderly and those sick. He also told her that God has designs for you. At a later time she visited a hospice run by the Sisters of Charity. There her attention was fixed on a portrait of an elderly priest who she recognized from her dreams. The picture was about St. Vincent DePaul. She finally followed the call to enter the convent of the Sisters of Charity. More about St. Catherine and the Miraculous Medal next time.

ANOTHER PROJECT, PARISH CENSUS 2020

Soon you will receive a 2020 Parish Census Form. It is very important that you complete the form

with all needed information including your correct address, phone number and e-mail information.

All Parishioners from ages 18 and older and those who will be age 18 in 2020 need to complete a

Census Form. Family members are asked to assist all senior members where needed. Anyone

needing help may contact Parish Advisory Board Members whose names and phone numbers are

listed on the Census Form. For additional Forms contact the Parish Office – 330-666-3598 or help

yourself to the forms available at our Church entrance.

The information on our Censes Form is designed based on an annual Parish Report we are asked

to provide to our Diocese which in turn is submitted for publication in a book called THE

OFFICIAL CATHOLIC DIRECTORY. We are asked to give a census each year of the count of

our Parish, a count of how many are Maronite, a count of others in our Parish not Maronite. They

ask about a count of students enrolled in a Religious Education Program plus many other details. It

really is an obligation for everyone to cooperate in this parish project. Thank you.

A Thank You from

The Men's Club

Our annual Reverse Raffle was a great success once again this year! This event, the second

most profitable church fundraiser in our calendar year, would not have been possible without

the support and help of so many. Although it is impossible to recognize all those who helped,

we would be remiss if we did not recognize the very special efforts of a few who went above

and beyond.

Firstly we most sincerely thank Fares Jasser whose kindness and generosity have been a pillar

of our community in this and so many of our church events. God bless you Fares, this event

would not be the sensational evening it is if not for you! Also we owe a very special thanks to

our kitchen staff and other talented chefs, cooks, and bakers Walid and Zouheir Kahwaji, Mary

Beth Abraham (on loan from the Ladies' Guild), Joe and George Ezzie, and Subdeacon Paul

Boulos. - Salim dyedthkoom (bless your hands)! We also humbly thank Manuel Nemer, another

very generous leader of our church family, for his donation of a fully stocked bar. We are most

grateful Manny! Many of the members of the Ladies' Guild crossed over to be honorary Men's

Club members to help with this event in a variety of ways. We can't thank you enough ladies;

we love you dearly! A great big thanks to our Men's Club President Leo Michael and Reverse

Raffle Advisor Tom Hadley for chairing this event. Of course, we would never have any

success for this event if not for the active participation of our club members and other faithful

men of our church community who sold and bought tickets thus ensuring a full banquet hall and

full coffers for our church! Finally, so many of our attendees and raffle entrants were YOU our

beloved parish family! What a blessing to be in a community whose devotion to God and our

Maronite faith emboldened such acts of selfless generosity! Thank you so very much and God

Bless Our Lady of the Cedars Parish Family!

If you are a gentleman age 18 or older and in good standing at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite

Catholic Church, please consider joining our Men's Club which meets at 10:00am the third

Sunday of every month in the parish sunroom. In the past year alone, the Men's Club have

contributed $20,000.00 to banquet hall renovations (new ovens, a fryer, and building

maintenance), support of our church's annual food fair, support to our youth, past contributions

to the Caregivers, contribution to the Order of Saint Sharbel, financial assistance to church

operations and maintenance as needed, repeated donations to Haven of Rest homeless shelter,

donations to Shelter Care Respite Home for adolescents, and several other charitable endeavors.

Many people had great ideas for improvements to our Reverse Raffle and other great ideas for

our Men's Club, so please come JOIN US and share your thoughts at our monthly meetings!
