GWS will celebrate 90 years of the Mercedes-Benz brand at

the Deutsche Marque Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, May 1. 2016, 8 am to 4 pm.Our annual rite of spring is around the corner! GWS-MBCA members will join the BMW Car Club of America and the Porsche Club of America on the lawn of Nottoway Park in Vienna, VA for the 33rd Annual Deutsche Marque Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, May 1, 2016. The success of this event is due largely to the spirited participation of our member’s. We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to ensure this year’s success.In fact, this is a milestone year for Mercedes-Benz. In 1926, the venerated Daimler and Benz companies amalgamated and thus was born the new brand of Mercedes-Benz cars. The Deutsche Marque Concours grows larger each year, and has earned its status as more than a local car show with its ability to attract participation from well outside the Washington Metro Area. Having 90 years’ worth of Mercedes-Benz cars on the lawn will make for a truly memorable and enlightening event so, please, do spread the word!

As in years past, registration for this event will be through the online channel of MotorsportReg.com. Additional details on registration are to be announced soon. Several volunteer opportunities exist. We’ll need assistance with setting up our tent area, erecting event signs, directing cars onto the lawn, judging cars, setting up the awards reception area, and, of course, cleanup after the event. Confirmed dates are 4/24, 5/15, & 6/12, waiting on 7/17, 8/14, 9/18, 10/9, 11/6 to be confirmed.An A/X planning meeting is scheduled for March 20 at 3 pm at Coaches’ Corner Sports Bar, 100-A Purcellville Gateway Dr, Purcellville VA. 2016 GWS Officer ElectionsThe Greater Washington Section will hold elections for 2-year terms for Section Officers, President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Profiles will be placed in the Fall issue of the Metro Tri-Star, members will vote in October at the Annual Meeting. 2016 MBCA National ElectionsMercedes-Benz Club of America will conduct a National Election this year to select four Directors at Large and six Regional Directors. The Directors at Large whose terms expire in 2016 are: Cliff Reyle, William Hopper, Josie Lesler and Frank Cozza. Regional Directors in the six even-numbered Regions will also be elected this year. Affected regions include: Mid-Atlantic Region (2), South Central Region (4), Southwest Region (6), Great Lakes Region (8), Southeast Region (10) and the Eastern Region (12).

Active members interested in running for MBCA National office are encouraged to go online for information and petition forms: 1) Go to www.mbca.org; 2) click the ‘Login’ button at the top right corner of the home page and follow the log-in instructions; 3) click on the navigation tab titled “Community” then click on the drop down titled “MBCA Resources.” The printable petition forms are under the “Election” section. Completed nomination petitions are due at the NBO by May 16, 2016.If you need assistance, please call the NBO at 800.637.2360, 8am-4:30pm MT (M-T) 8am-4pm MT (F). The deadline for submitting valid petitions is close of business Monday, May 16, 2016. This year will be the first year for on-line voting. Please update your email address with the club!
