“Who is the prophet talking about? Jesus.”

(Acts 8:34-35)

‘So I Guess I Don’t Need To Tithe Anymore?’ After last week’s news of an exceptionally generous legacy gift to CCC and camp, some might think the church is flush and won’t be needing offerings. NOT! The bequest is designated for projects we can’t fit into our operating budget. We need just as much as ever the faithful stewardship of God’s people to keep our varied ministries going here and abroad. God bless you as you give – regularly, and – as God prompts you – in your will.

Sunday School for all ages 52 weeks of the year. Join us 9:00-10:10am. Our teachers are dedicated and invested in creatively sharing God's truths from the Bible.

Please grab a tissue and read what one of the Sunday School teachers shared (note- the child's name has been changed):

The children looked at the picture in their laps, a scene showing kids with various needs. A boy cried with a hurt knee. A girl held a broken jump rope in her hand. Someone else looked lonely. And then there was the little boy who was the object of three bullies, pointing and teasing. “Put your finger on the child who reminds you of yourself and your own needs,” I said.

One little girl said, “Oh, there are too many of them!” So I told her to use more fingers. Then I walked around, letting each child share one problem with which they identified. No one was being silly, no one was distracted, no one even moved his or her finger off their chosen child. When I stopped by Tommy’s chair he kept his eyes on the poor bulled kid in the picture. “That’s like me, “ he said softly. “Kids at school call me weird and tease me.”

“Me too!” came a quiet chorus of children who also understood this pain. Having named our hurts and needs, we carried the papers over by the poster of our Bible verse, Matthew 11:28: Come to Me, all your who are weary and burdened; and I will give you rest.”

“Let’s lay our pain down and give it to Jesus,” I said. “He is the One who can help you. I will pray for you aloud while each of you talk to Jesus inside yourself. He wants to help you and give you rest.”

As one, each child dropped to his knees, heads bowed to folded hands all the way to the floor. I was stunned. Moved. Too emotional almost to pray. It was a God-moment. The Holy Spirit had touched each little heart through the Word, and young as they are, they responded. I was standing on holy ground.
