1 Corinthians 13 (A Christmas Version) If I decorate my house perfectly with strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls but do not show love to my family, I’m just another decorator. If I slave away in the kitchen baking dozens of Christmas biscuits, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do no show love to my family, I’m just another cook. If I volunteer at the local community meals program, carol in the nursing home and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing. If I trim the tree with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir’s cantata, but do not focus on those I love the most, I have missed the point. In other words... Love stops the cooking to hug a child. Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the spouse. Live is kind, though harried and tired. Love doesn’t envy another’s home that has coordinated china and linen. Love doesn’t yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful they are there to be in the way. Love doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can’t. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. Video games will break, pearl necklaces with be lost, golf clubs will rust. But the gift of love will endure. News from Derek and Rosie Snibson Greetings from Ngukurr in the Northern Territory! It's now over 3 months since we arrived in this remote community, in East Arnhem Land. It's been an exciting challenge and a great joy. We are grateful to God for the special gift of this experience; •being warmly welcomed, making many new, close friendships; •beginning to learn Kriol and new things of the culture and natural wonders in this region, including morning walks beside the Roper River, •celebrating almost every night in the Fellowship Park, 'a light on the top of the hill' with worship, teaching, prayer and healing ministry. Our friends at Ngukurr have asked to thank the CMS community, which includes you - our wonderful friends and supporters. Sadly we are soon to leave our 'new family' in this community we have come to love. On 1st December, we go to begin our new phase of ministry in Darwin. Points for Prayer- •Saying goodbye to the church mob here next week. •For the leaders in the church here like Marjorie, William and team, that they continue to stand strong with the many personal and community challenges. •Finding a place to live in Darwin when we return which is in a strategic location for future ministry •For wisdom and direction in the shape that ministry will take as we settle into Darwin, and grow together with the ministry team here.

Christmas Cards for S If you would like to send S a Christmas Card you can drop your card into the parish office by 9 December and it will be delivered to her. DO NOT

write CMS on it and be very careful not to use religious language.

Children’s Christmas Party There will be a Parish Children’s and Family’s Christmas party at the home of the Hendrey’s on Sunday December 2 at 4pm. If you have children or grandchildren we would love you to come so please put this date in your diary and see Jaqueline, Sue or Michelle for details.

Amen
