deemed world: Yosef and the holiday of PesachRabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter is University Professor of Jewish History and Jewish Thought and Senior Scholar at the Center for the Jewish Future, at Yeshiva University. Rabbi Schacter is co-author of the award winning “A Modern Heretic and a Traditional Community: Mordecai M. Kaplan, Orthodoxy and American Judaism” published by Columbia University Press in 1996; author of “The Lord is Righteous in All His Ways: Reflections on the Tish‘ah be-Av Kinot by Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik” (2006); and close to 50 articles and reviews. He is founding editor of The Torah u-Madda Journal, a prestigious academic publication which has gained international acclaim.
Rabbi Ari Kahn Sunday 6:30pm TOPIC: What would Rav Soloveitchik say?Rabbi Kahn received his rabbinic ordination from Yeshiva University’s Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary where he studied with Rabbi Yosef Dov Soloveitchik, and Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein. He graduated Yeshiva University with a BA in Psychology and an MS degree in Talmud. He is Director of the Overseas Student Program at Bar-Ilan University in Israel, where he also is a senior lecturer in Jewish studies; he is serves as Rabbi of the Mishkan Etrog community in Givat Ze’ev. Rabbi Kahn is the author of more than ten books on Jewish Thought.
Shani Taragin Sunday 7:30pm TOPIC: Matza and Manna: Leaven from HeavenShani Taragin received her B.A. and M.A. in Tanakh and Talmud from Bar-Ilan University and is a graduate of Nishmat’s Keren Ariel Program for certification as a halachic advisor in issues of family purity law. Shani lectures throughout the world on topics of Tanakh, Jewish Education, and Jewish Law. She is a senior lecturer in Matan and is the curriculum coordinator for the Matan – Bnei Akiva program (MTVA). In addition, Shani is a Ra’mit Tanakh in Midreshet Lindenbaum and teaches at Migdal Oz, the Women’s Beit Medrash of Efrat and Gush Etzion and in Matan Ramat Shiloh.

Dr Erica Brown Monday 10:30am TOPIC: Song of Songs: Love in the Time of CoronaDr. Erica Brown is the director of the Mayberg Center for Jewish Education and Leadership and an associate professor of curriculum and pedagogy at The George Washington University. Erica was a Jerusalem Fellow, is a faculty member of the Wexner Foundation, an Avi Chai Fellow and the recipient of the 2009 Covenant Award for her work in education. She is the author of twelve books on leadership, the Hebrew Bible and spirituality. She has been published in the New York Times, The Atlantic, Tablet, First Things, and The Jewish Review of Books and wrote a monthly column for the New York Jewish Week.
Aliza Bulow Monday 12pm TOPIC: Cultivating Calm in the Chaos Aliza Bulow has been a Jewish Educator for over twenty five years teaching practical Jewish philosophy, basic Judaism and textual learning skills to adults. She was educated both in Israel and America, served in the IDF, and is now the national coordinator of Ner LeElef’s North American Woman’s Program and the Senior Educator for The Jewish Experience in Denver, Colorado. Aliza teaches both locally and nationally, mentors women who work in Jewish Adult Education and Outreach, and provides consulting for Jewish Outreach organizations across the country. Her husband and eclectic brood of young-adult children, children-in-law, grandchildren and “adopted” children offer her insights, support and opportunities to continue learning, growing and sharing.

In 1976 he was sent by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, of righteous memory, as a Chabad-Lubavitch emissary to serve the Jewish community of Johannesburg, South Africa. He is Senior Rabbi of the Sydenham Shul since 1986, president of the South African Rabbinical Association, and a frequent contributor to Chabad.org. His book From Where I Stand: Life Messages from the Weekly Torah Reading was recently published by Ktav, and is available at Jewish bookshops or online.
Rabbi Yitzchok Adlerstein Monday 8:30pm TOPIC: The Seventh DayRabbi Adlerstein is the Director of Interfaith Affairs for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, the global Jewish human rights organization. Until his move to Jerusalem, he held the Sydney M Irmas Adjunct Chair in Jewish Law and Ethics at Loyola Law School. Rabbi Adlerstein is the Founding Editor of and regular contributor to Cross-Currents, a popular blog of Torah and current affairs. Dozens of his essays have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, the Huffington Post, the National Law Journal, FoxNews.com and a host of Jewish and general printed and electronic media. He serves on the editorial boards of the Orthodox Union’s Jewish Action, and the online journal of community responsibility Klal Perspectives. He has appeared on ABC’s 20/20, CBS National News, and radio stations across the US, including regular appearances on Christian radio. He has published on the Be’er Hagolah of the Maharal of Prague, and two volumes on the Slonimer Rebbe’s Nesivos Shalom. He assisted in the editorial review of Artscroll/Mesorah Publications’ edition of Ramban. Rabbi Adlerstein received his ordination from the Chofetz Chaim yeshiva in New York. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Queens College, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.Prior to his aliyah to Israel, Rabbi Adlerstein lived in LA for close to four decades with his wife Reena.
