It looks like winter has finally broken in the past week with the melting snow and the warmer weather, spring is finally here with boat season just around the corner. It’s been a very busy time for me and I expect it will get more hectic as the year progresses.

Our first SPBC Membership meeting is planned for April 17th and I do hope to see many of you out. This is where we conduct club business. We are working on changes this year and will be reviewing them at this meeting and voting on them. It is very important we hear your voice as we move forward in 2015.

Many of our events have been well attended this year. Our last Kickback Friday event was bowling, held at Rose Bowl Lanes. We used 6 lanes and had 22 bowlers, as well as a few that attended to cheer us on. A very fun event. As well, we just had our Membership Appreciation event run by our Vice Commodore Keith Postma. Again, a well-attended and fun event.

In addition to our SPBC Membership meeting, we have a number of events in April. Kickback Friday will be a Bingo night (a crowd favourite) held on April 10th. On April 25th, Lady Louise will be hosting a Taco dinner at the club house. Check out the flyers and come out for a couple of good nights.

As most of you are already aware, this year SPBC has been focusing on improving our electronic com-munications. Our communications officer Izzie, along with Rick have been very busy restructuring our ship’s log and setting up a face-book site. These are really looking good and special thanks goes out to Izzie and Rick for their efforts. As well, the web site this year will continue to be tweaked throughout the year. Since I am playing web site administrator this year, please provide me feedback if you see any issues.

Thanks all, and hope to see you out at some events this year. Your board is working hard to increase their number and variety. I would like to hear from you with suggestions on our events and/or opera-tions of the club.

Spring is in the air, snow is gone and ice is melting. It won’t be long till we start getting our boats in

order.

It was nice to see those who attended the membership appreciation on March 22, 2015.

If you are planning your boating vacation this summer, mark your calendar for this event. Metro Beach

July 24, 25,26th and on to MacRay 26,27,28,29th. This event is for members that want to do only a week-

end or the full trip. A flyer will be in the next Ships Log.

There are additional events through the summer, so be sure to check out our event calendar on the SPBC

website and SPBC Facebook Page.

Come on warm weather…..

I have attended the I-LYA Spring Meeting and Banquet held on March 27 - 29 and will have information

from that meeting in our May Log.

Unfortunately the steak roast fundraiser which was scheduled for April 25 has been postponed.

If you're looking for a belated Mother's Day gift, there is an Inter-Lake Yachting Association fundraiser

for our very own 2016 I-LYA Commodore Chris Amlin, on Friday, May 15th. Please refer to the attached

flyer which gives details regarding the "more-fun-than-you-can-handle" Diamond Jack Cruise, leaving

out of Bishop Park in Wyandotte, Michigan, for a mere $30 pp U.S. Please contact me at 519-978-0607

or spbc2005@cogeco. ca to purchase tickets. As it is the same weekend as Sun Parlour's Shake Down to

Swan Boat Club, we are hoping to provide transportation from Swan to the Diamond Jack....stay tuned to

our website.... www.sunparlourboatclub.com

Regarding the Power Boat Regatta at Put-in-Bay , Ohio from August 5 - 9, the information should be

available online at www.i-lya.org under the Regattas tab.

Please come out and support your Auxiliary. We will be hosting a dinner on Friday, April 17 from 5 p.m.

- 6:30 p.m, which coincides with our General Membership meeting, happening on the same evening. It's

a famous meatloaf recipe from Cathy Frowley. For $7.00 per plate you'll be enjoying a hot, open face

meatloaf sandwich with gravy, coleslaw as well as dessert. Please see the attached flyer.

I hope everyone is looking forward to a great 2015 boating season. Hopefully, the ice will melt in the marina as quickly as it does on a summer day in our beverages of choice. I will be posting all of our events on our Facebook page. If you haven't already, please check it out. Encourage your friends to join or just visit the page, all posts can be seen by searching Sun Parlour Boat Club. I hope everyone is enjoying the new format for the log. We have some new advertisers this year, there's always room for more, so if you know anyone, please pass the word. As a side note, when you visit the club house, please check out the Regalia Showcase. If you wish to purchase anything see me or any member of the board.

Cheers.

Well the countdown to launch is still on. Approx. 40 days (weather permitting and hopefully sooner)

until my launch date of May 10.

The boat club usually has about a 5-10% turn over in members each year. This year no different we

picked up a few new members and a few did not renew their membership. The current membership

stands at 68. We have 14 undecided and 8 not returning.

The boat club is going back to its roots and travelling more. With 5 away events not counting the 5

poker runs there should be something for everyone.

Remember: This is your boat club come out and enjoy it
