Springis Here!

Many of us are motivated to start “Spring Cleaning”. Whether its planting and pruning, or de-cluttering the house and garage, it can feel like a fresh start.

Now is a great time to do preventative maintenance on your home’s systems and appliances. Changing air conditioning and heating filters, cleaning grills, registers and grates can help your systems run more efficiently, saving you money. Don’t forget link traps, ceiling fan blades and anything else that can build up dust.

The Real Estate market is doing great. If you are thinking of buying or selling your home please call me for a free consultation.

Throughout the month of March, C.I.A. Services conducted an audit of the access card database. Some of you already noticed that your cards/FOBs did not work. Many times the reason was/is incorrect information associated with your device. For example, if you moved within Summerwood we may have your old address listed to the card or if you received your device from the previous resident, they might not have been changed over to your name. As pool season i s quickly approaching we want to be sure everyone has their devices in working order. If you should find that your card

or FOB is not working you can do one of two things to remedy the situation:

If the numbers on your device are clearly readable, you can submit the form located on www.SummerwoodLife.com > Home Owner Association Tab > Access Card/FOB problems. We can generally take care of the situation electronically for you. Be sure to include the numbers of all your devices.

If the numbers are not clear

or readable, we will need for you to visit the club house office on Wed. 9am-12pm or Sat. 12pm-3pm to scan the device so we may get the devices working as quickly as possible for you. Please be sure to bring all devices you may have to be sure we get all of them included.

Since the server is located in the onsite office, C.I.A. Services main office may not be able to assist you with this situation. Please visit or call the onsite office, 281-225-2786, during onsite office hours for assistance.

If you should have any questions please feel free to email [email protected].

A “Mardi Gras” CelebrationBy Cassie Pfeifer, Lakeshore Student Council Sponsor

Lakeshore Elementary 5th grade students recently participated in the 3rd Annual LSE Manners Banquet. This special event allowed students to practice their table etiquette during a “Mardi Gras” themed lunch held at Italiano’s Restaurant. Administrators, teachers, and students truly had a fabulous experience! Thanks to all who helped make this event a huge success.

Homelike Environment- Our homelike environment is one of the cornerstones in the AutumnGrove Cottage belief that people should be able to age in the same manner they are accustomed to living.

Personalized Care - AutumnGrove Cottage caregivers are involved in all aspects of our residents care through out their day from grooming, bathing, doing activities with them to preparing and assisting them with meals. This allows our caregivers to get to know the residents preferences and to provide more personalized care for our residents.

Deep Relationships - Since an AutumnGrove Cottage only cares for 16 residents, staff and residents get to know each other in a very personal and intimate way. With the com-mon bond of being impacted by Alzheimer’s, family members become friends and often become an informal support group for one another.

Come take a Virtual Tour on our website: www.AutumnGrove.com

“Our purpose is to honor our residents and those who love and care for them.”

Ten Crime Watch Tips for Home SafetyBy Barbara Probandt

• Lock doors and windows• Lock all doors at night and every time you

leave the house.• Secure windows and sliding doors with

secondary blocking devices..• Crime-proof outside areas• Lighting is one of the most cost-effective

deterrents to burglary so keep yard, porch, garage doors, pathways and entrances well-lit at night.

• Use motion detecting lights which turn on automatically as someone approaches.

• Consider light timers for exterior lighting and driveway motion monitors

• Get to know your neighbors• Get to know your neighbors on each side of

your home and across the street.• Ask neighbors to pick up mail and park

in your driveway to give appearance of occupancy while on vacation.

• Consistently use your security alarm system

• Display alarm company signs and decals on the windows and lawn; burglars will usually bypass a property with visible alarm signs.

• Consider installing an exterior alarm and a strobe light connected to your home alarm system.

• Protect yourself with lock and key• Don’t hide keys. Leave a key with a trusted

family member, friend or neighbor.• All entryways should have a sturdy deadbolt

lock installed into the frame of the door. • Protect your home when traveling• Call the HCSO Vacation Watch number

before you leave home at 281-446-9155• Inform a trusted neighbor of your travel plans

and ask them to collect mail and watch your home while you are away.

• Consider using automatic timers to switch interior lights on and off at preset times.

• Protect your valuables• Gate latches, garage doors, and shed doors

should be locked with high quality locks.• Keep home inventories of valuables

including serial numbers, pictures, and sales receipts

• Teach home safety to your kids• Never let them allow anyone into your

home without permission or let a caller at the door know they are alone.

• Be sure they know how to call 911• Have an emergency plan• Have important phone numbers such as

police and fire by the phone.• If something looks questionable- a slit

screen or broken window or open door- don’t go in. Call the police.

• Takeastandandjoin theSummerwoodCrimeWatchCommitteeMeetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each

month at the Central Clubhouse at 7:00 PM.Consider being a block captain and a vital part

of the information chain.

2012 PROJECT GRADUATIONSUMMER CREEK HIGH SCHOOL

Project Graduation is a chaperoned, all-night, alcohol and drug-free party hosted by the students’ parents and school faculty. It is exclusively for the graduating seniors and promotes the message that celebrating without alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs is the right choice. The event is held on graduation night from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. the next morning. Our goal is to provide an evening of safety and fun on graduation night for both the graduating seniors and the community.

The Class of 2012 will be the first graduating class at Humble School District’s newest high school, Summer Creek. Please consider a monetary donation, a sponsorship, and/or an item to be awarded to the seniors attending this event. The first graduating class consists of approximately 350 students and it is our goal to provide a gift to each one of them during the event.

Project Graduation is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization. We do not receive any funding from the school or the Humble ISD budget. The Project Graduation effort reflects the community at its best - people and local businesses with diverse backgrounds working closely together toward providing for the safety and well-being of these young adults as they transition to the next stage of their lives.

Please consider a gift or donation to assist in this endeavor. The graduating class of 2012 of Summer Creek High School thanks you for your consideration!
