Prest traveled to San Francisco over summer break to visit her family. “Half of my family lives in San Francisco. When we visited, we had this big Filipino family get-together with a ton of food. It was nice because I hadn’t seen them in a long time. San Francisco is definitely a place I can call a second home,” Prest said. Strapped into a harness, Hartley Hill (10) smiles as she swings through the air. Hill went to Camp Greystone in North Carolina during July and got the oppurtunity to zipline. “It’s really fun, some people think it’s scary, but its super fun,” Hill said. SUMMER MAKES PRACTICE perfect With a ball craddled to their chest, Larry Jackson (11) and MiGeon McKinnis (11) perform the lineman drill by running through fake padded defenders. Players performed this drill to gain speed and strength for the upcoming season. “The lineman drill helps me get through offenders who are tougher and stronger than me and because I’m short I need practice. It’s like a simulator of carrying the team on my back; if I don’t get through this drill, I let my team down,” McKinnis said. Pushing against each other, Brooks Bak (10) and Steven Sargeant (12) utilize their strength in the circle scrum drill. Players performed the circle scrum drill for motivation and to work on their endurance and power. “It’s a great way to create a pulse in practice and get everyone hyped up,” Sargent said. Football players prepare for the upcoming season over summer “It was so everyone could get prepared and get to know each other and to see what we’re going to deal with during the school year.” “We rehearsed ‘Nothing Like a Dame’ basically all day with a couple breaks in between.” “We learned the dance for ‘Never Fully Dressed’ and had a lot of fun at my first prelude.” first last “We sang ‘Nothin Like a Dame’ my freshmen year so getting to sing it again as a senior brought back a lot of memories.” First year Chorus Prelude attendees compare their experience with fourth year attendees Aug. 7 “It’s really important for us to stretch so we don’t pull a muscle. We do mostly lunges and anything to stretch out our hamstrings.” Sidney Mazza (10) “Georgia leads the warmups, which usually last about 20 minutes [and include] stretching and some conditioning. During the summer, Kelly went to the Frontier Ranch camp in Buena Vista, CO where she did many activities like rock rappelling. “It was kind of scary ‘cause I thought I was going to fall, I was going really fast,” said Kelly.
