SESSIONSUMMER SUMMER

Group School Age SwimThis program follows the YMCA of the USA's guidelines to swim lessons. There is a focus on five main points; personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports & games and rescue. Classes may be combined based on enrollment.

Pool Locations: The Hyatt Lodge @ Mc Donald's Campus, 2815 Jorie Blvd, Oak Brook, IL 60523.

William Tell (Holiday Inn), 6201 Joliet Ave, Countryside, IL 60525

Riverside-Brookfield High School, 160 Ridgewood Rd., Riverside, IL 60546

Level 1: Polliwog - This is the beginning level for school age children and is appropriate for anyone new to the water or with little formal instruction. Children will learn the basic paddle stroke on their front, back and sides, kicking skills and will become comfortable putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Guppy - In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; backsymmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards;and kneeling dive. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float for 30 seconds with or without an IFD; paddle 25 yards on their front, back and side with an IFD, and 15 feet without an IFD; jump in without assistance; be comfortable in deep water.

Level 3: Minnow - In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive.

Level 4: FISH - In this class swimmers will learn to tread water for 3-minutes; swim 50 yards front crawl; swim 50 yards breaststroke with legal kick and arm pulls; swim 50 yards backstroke; swim 50 yards elementary backstroke with a glide; swim 50 yards sidestroke with a scissors kick; and swim 15 yards butterfly. Summer CampSummer Camp This camp is designed for youth to grow and increase self-confidence while developing values, respect and self-esteem. Children make lifelong friends and have fun! Daily activities include crafts, sports, singing, cookouts, group games, healthy kids activities and Wednesday field trips. Campers will travel to other YMCAs for swimming, rock climbing and other outdoor activities on Thursdays and Fridays. Each session is one week. There are 11 sessions available. Camp will run June 2 through Aug 15. Drop off and pick up at St. Barbara's School 8900 Windemere, Brookfield.

Skate Park Challenge We will be visiting two skate parks a day in the Chicagoland area. A fantastic opportunity for the beginner and advanced skater

Thrill Week For one week kids will have the time of their young lives. We will be going on a field trip each day throughout the Chicagoland area.

Teen Camp During this camp we will go on various field trips, participate in many service projects and learn leadership skills.

Level 6: SHARK - In this class swimmers will learn to take their own heart rate; learn about open water and backyard pool safety; swim 100 yards from crawl with flip turns; swim 100 yards breaststroke with pull-out; swim 50 yards inverted breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke with dolphin kick and pullout; swim 50 yards over arm side stroke; swim 25 yards butterfly with streamline; and swim 200 yards individual medley. Prerequisite: To enter this level, children should be able to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly.

Level 7: PORPOISE - This level differs from other levels in that the format allows older children and teens the opportunity to develop a program that fits their interests after they complete the Shark level. Participants will expand upon the five main points of YMCA swim lessons in create ways that they help develop while they learn leadership skills and the value of community service.

Private & Semi-Private Swim LessonsIt is the YMCA's philosophy that everyone learns better in a group. Sometimes, however, individual attention can benefit the beginner. Why you should consider private lessons? Children or adults who have a specific fear related to the water. Children who need individual attention or who need work in one specific area to pass to the next level. Children or adults who want to refine a specific stroke and need specific instruction.

One Private Swim Lesson One private lesson is 30 minutes in length

Private Lesson 5 Pack This 5 pack offers you a discount for buying 5 private swim lessons for the price of 4. One private lesson is 30 minutes in length.

Semi-Private One For those families that have siblings that would both like a private lesson, we can now offer you one semi-private lesson for 45 minutes. The fee indicated is a per person fee. Semi-Private lessons are 45 minutes in length versus a private lesson which is 30 minutes in length.

Health & WellnessGamercise Stay in shape while learning new exercises, drills and games. Every class will be different. All fitness levels welcome.

Youth Bike Club* Enjoy the great outdoors with us. The club will meet 9:30 am every Tuesday at the 26th Street Woods West. Kids will be picked up from the same location at 11:30. Riders must bring a water bottle and wear a helmet. A healthy snack will be provided. We will work our way up to a 4 mile ride. Parents are welcome to join us!

Youth Martial Arts Strengthen body and mind in this martial arts class emphasizing patience, discipline and self-control. Taught by 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, Jim Smith.

Youth Yoga & Stretch Yoga and Stretch for kids 6-12yrs old. Kids will learn basic poses, breathing and building blocks of yoga. Mats and yoga props will be available.

Youth Walking Club* Join us as we explore the neighborhood and stay active. Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable shoes. We will meet in the YMCA lobby at 9:30am and return around 11:30 am. A healthy snack will be provided!

Youth Boxing Gr. 5-8 Join us for this high-energy class. Kids will learn the fundamentals of boxing and will learn to train in the disciplined style of the boxing pros. All fitness levels are encouraged to participate.

Summer Sports LeaguesSummer Youth Basketball Kids will be placed on teams. During this eight-week program, our players will learn the concept of team basketball. They will become efficient ball handlers, shooters and passers. All games and practices take place on Thursdays.

T-Ball This program is actually a combination of both t-ball and coach pitch. Kids get the best of both worlds. Teams will be formed and the fundamentals of the game will be emphasized.

Family EventsFamily Swim One Time YMCA Family Members are FREE for Family Swim. Non-Member families can come for $8.00 per family per visit. Parents or responsible adult age 16+ must accompany all children under age 9 in the pool.

Couch To 5K* Interested in running a 5K but don't know where or how to start? Just want to get into shape and improve your fitness? Join us for this 5 week training program designed to get you to a point where you can run a comfortable, relaxed 3 miles. This walk run program is suitable for all fitness levels and allows you to progress at your own pace. Ages 12+

Family Fun At the Forest Preserve* Y Family Fun at the Forest Preserve. Come out and have some good old fashioned family fun. Red Rover, Spud, Kick the Can, you name it we can play it. Bring the family, bring the neighbors, get your team together! Free to the Community.

Morning Fun Run* Join us Sunday mornings for a fun run. We will meet at different local trails for a casual run of varying distances and paces. Everyone welcome. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Free for members, registration requested.

Outdoor Movie in the Park* A wonderful family event at the Amphitheater in Memorial Park. Bring your blankets and enjoy a family movie under the stars. Movie to be determined. Watch our Facebook page to place your vote. Open to all ages. This is a Free community event.
