Year 2 pupils from Weald Rise Primary School who took part in the City of London Sinfoniaproject. After four weeks of workshops, it helped build musical skills in a fun and interactiveway, whilst preparing children for the concert experience which took place on Friday 19May 2017. The theme was "Animals".

Its also an opportunity to discover what The Met are doing to help safeguard young people against knife crime in the hope that we can all work together to ensure that young people are given the best chances in life.

6. YOUTH OFFER FOR SUMMER 2017

Harrow Council is pleased to provide details of the Youth Offer for Summer 2017 and beyond. There have been some significant changes over the last year and we have made this year’s youth offer more relevant to the needs of young people in Harrow. Many of the activities within this programme are evidence-based, purposeful, educational and relevant to young people who have been fully consulted in respect of this year’s offer. Please make use of these services and promote them within your networks with young people and colleagues. Please see Appendix B for details of the programme.

7. SCHOOL REPORT - THE EXPERIENCES OFLESBIAN, GAY, BI AND TRANS YOUNG PEOPLE IN BRITAIN’S SCHOOLS IN 2017

The School Report 2017 has now been released! In 2016 Stonewall commissioned the Centre for Family Research at the University of Cambridge to conduct a survey with young people who are lesbian, gay, bi or trans (LGBT), or who think they might be, on their experiences in secondary schools and colleges across Britain. Alongside the extensive report, we created a video which highlighted some of the research we collected, please share this with your friends and colleagues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6FWZ5Y-VOI&t=11s Please be aware the content may be upsetting. Young Carers Guidance for multi-agency professionals, including those in schools is now available at the HSCB website: http://www.harrowlscb.co.uk/young-carers-guidance/ The Young Carers Project Manager has now brought the project to a close and left the Council. Thank you to all those schools who have found the time and energy to do more to identify and support more young carers – you have done some excellent work, please keep it up!

will be delivered by Watford FC alongside youth staff
in the open parks – they will also introduce you to
activities going on at Cedars Youth Centre you may be
interested in accessing
Learn to Cook
Learn how to cook quick and easy meals from scratch
with an element of how much it costs to make a meal.
Young people can attend either one session or a series
as everyday there will be new things being cooked and
walk away with a booklet of recipes so they can practice
their culinary skills in their own times. All recipe booklets
come with a breakdown of approximate cost of meal.

Mental Toughness describes the mind-set that
every person adopts in everything they do. It is
closely related to qualities such as character,
resilience, etc. Mental toughness is defined as, the

challenge. This is a taster session for you, but is a
programme that runs for a number of sessions
helping you to build your resilience and learn to
adapt to changing environments around you
How do people see me?
How do people perceive you? What messages do
you give out to others by how you communicate?
How does your body language tell someone
whether you are interested to speak to them or
not? These sessions are designed to explore our
understanding of ourselves and how we
communicate with the world, they consider social
skills, verbal and nonverbal communication, public
speaking and presentation skills all designed to
increase self-awareness and ensure opportunities
are not lost through communication!

hot topic in young peoples lives, what’s the latest
craze?? Every session will have a “hot topic”
suggested by you to increase awareness of / discuss
/ debate and create a healthy safe space to have
ideas challenged and thinking around topics

Headteacher Appraisal training is now available for booking on the HSIP Learning Pool website. This aspect of governance has been a continuing topic of demand from governors and we’re really pleased to be able to promote this course to you.
