Health Coach’s Corner

Isn’t it frustrating to come to the gym 3 days, 4 days, even 7 days a week and not see the results you ultimately want? Are you trying to lose weight, gain more muscle, lean out, or more importantly, just feel good?

Maybe you have been trying new classes, getting a personal trainer or doing MUV. I know the feeling! There is a missing link between exercise and the goal you are working towards and it is DIET! So what are you doing about it?! How are you getting to your goals?!

Balanced Habits is the link you have been looking for. It’s based on real, whole food. No supplements or pre packaged foods. Each program is specifically designed for your body and goals. Its fool proof! Really! Most importantly, it is sustainable for LIFE. This is not a diet or cleanse. You will not eliminate any foods, food groups or even wine! ;) It’s about ‘BALANCED HABITS’ you learn that fit into your life.

The success of Balanced Habits clients in just a few weeks has been amazing! Depending on how much you want to lose or gain, we have a program for you! Feel free to email me with any questions. We have our food coaches ready to help you achieve your goals!

AUGUST 2019 NEWSLETTER4

The FitLife Club Network is an association of independently-owned health and fitness clubs in the Pacific Northwest. Many of the clubs in the Network have been in business for more than 25 years now, so there is an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience among our group of owners and managers. Networking is a key benefit of membership in FitLife and a willingness to share ideas and information is a hallmark of the association’s reputation. Much of that networking takes place at the FitLife Summer Conference. This year’s conference was held in beautiful Bend, Oregon. We sent a core group of our leadership team to meet with other colleagues, listen to fantastic industry specific speakers, and share ideas in roundtable discussions. We asked them to each share their takeaways with you:

Ellen Ulrich, Community Outreach, Member Services Director“Fit life was an amazing opportunity to network and learn from others with so much knowledge and experience in the fitness industry.”

Levi Diggs, Fitness Director “After traveling to Bend, OR for The Fit Life conference, I was very excited to spend time meeting and collaborating with staff from other clubs within our ownership group. Many people would be surprised to learn that Harbor Squares owners are also affiliated with multiple clubs across Washington, Idaho, and Montana. It was great to meet some of the staff from these other clubs, hear what they are doing, and explore how we can implement some of the same programs at Harbor Square. I am proud to be part of a club that works to be on the cutting edge of new fitness trends and I am excited to work with our like minded clubs to stay relevant in the industry.”

Maygen Hetherington, Concierge and Service Desk Manager “This was my first time attending the FitLife conference and I was so pleased with the experience. Hearing from veteran industry leaders and sharing ideas with others in similar roles at other clubs was extremely valuable and refreshing. I left with tons of ideas and inspirations to make Harbor Square even greater than it already is. The theme I felt most attentive to was that of the “customer experience”. Creating the best experience possible for our members and prospective members is something that I am looking forward to focusing on. Taking the service you receive from the moment you walk in the door to the next level. I hope you begin to notice some of these changes in the coming months!”

Megan Wood, Personal Trainer“It was good to be reminded that it’s all about the member’s experience. We are always on stage - what we say, how we say it, body language and tone says a lot. It is important to be authentic, listen mindfully and make eye contact. I was also encouraged to make my teammates look good! Stay positive and non-judgemental. No negativity!”

Kris Gjylameti and his wife Daria Gjylameti moved to Edmonds in August 2018 and joined HSAC that same month! “We like the athletic facilities and the extensive class offerings of the club. We enjoyed making friends through the club over the last year” Kris shared.

Kris and Daria were married four years ago and are happy to call Edmonds home. “Community is important to us and as active members of the Washington Athletic Club, we enjoy our role as member leaders and look forward to helping HSAC establish social events.”

Shortly after joining Harbor Square, Kris noticed that we have a great community and was interested in knowing more about social groups established within the club. He reached out to our concierge, Maygen Hetherington.

“When I (Maygen) had to tell Kris we currently do not have an official, ‘organized’ social program within the club, I was thrilled when he offered to take ownership of this and get something going. I love that he wants to take initiative and am really excited that we will be starting social groups at HSAC.”

So what will this look like? Well...are you looking to meet other club members that share your same interests? Searching for fun filled events and adventures? “Harbor Square Social Groups” will organize events around athletic and social interests. Our goal is to promote camaraderie and community within the club. We will create “clubs within the club” centered around specific interests and/or activities. Examples: wine club, water sports, foody club, art & entertainment

club, hiking club, cycling/tri club, pickleball, skiing/snowboarding, travel club etc….

If you are interested in learning more, please email our concierge, Maygen Hetherington, at [email protected] Include your name, phone number, and if you are interested in joining Harbor Square Social Groups as a committee member or if you would like to participate in future events. You can also reach out directly to Kris. He loves meeting other members and would be happy to discuss how you can be involved in the planning and launching of this new endeavor. His email is [email protected]

Committee members will help plan events and grow the community within the specific interest. We are so excited about this and can’t wait to see how you, our fantastic members, will be involved.
