During the Summer Sermon Series, Relationships, join us after worship as we explore the topics discussed
in the day’s sermon and how they apply to our marriages.
We’ll spend about fifteen minutes learning as a group, with the remainder of the time in guided conversation
with your spouse either here or after you leave. So, introverts, don’t be intimidated!
If you have questions, or to RSVP for childcare, please contact Rebecca Guzman, Director of Spiritual
Formation, [email protected].
"Where’s love come from, where’s love go? What feeds
love, what makes it grow?”
Bluegrass virtuoso Tim O’Brien’s lyrical questions lie at
the heart (pun intended) of human experience. Yet, it is
seldom that we ponder such questions as our lives
intersect with family, friends, colleagues, lovers,
spouses, frenemies, acquaintances, and strangers.
What fosters healthy relationships? Absent what
characteristics do relationships wither and perish?
This summer here at South Mecklenburg Presbyterian
Church, we will explore these questions as we worship,
study, pray, and sing together.
If you want to dance, why not take a little time to learn
the steps?

Wayne Henderson’s top-notch finger-picking is a source of great pleasure and pride to his friends, family and
neighbors in Grayson County, Virginia. His guitar playing has also been enjoyed at Carnegie Hall, in three
national tours of Masters of the Steel-String Guitar, and in seven nations in Asia.
In addition to his reputation as a guitarist, Henderson is a luthier of great
renown. He is a recipient of a 1995 National Heritage Award presented by the
National Endowment for the Arts. He produces about 20 instruments a year,
mostly guitars; he is almost as well-known for the mandolins he has made. Good
friend Doc Watson owned a Henderson mandolin. He said, “That Henderson
mandolin is as good as any I’ve had my hands on. And that’s saying a lot, because
I’ve picked up some good ones.”
A singer, fiddler, guitarist and tunesmith, Helen White has toured extensively
with Wayne in the U.S. and Europe. Her compositions include works for theater
and video projects as well as a Booklist honored recording of original songs for
children.
Both Wayne and Helen are frequent instructors at major traditional music camps
across the country.
