Youth Assembly - June 27-July 1$175 if you register before June 5th. (Broad Street scholarships any student who wants to go with $75)Each assembly is a week of discipleship featuring awesome worship, awesome people and one awesome God. It’s joining together with others your age to learn, grow, and laugh. It’s waking up and worshiping through word and song. It’s coming to an event and leaving with a “family.” It’s an opportunity to open up, to get real, to focus. It’s a chance to shift your thoughts, your actions, and your life from things of this world to the heart of Jesus. After all, true worship takes place when all people within a community seek the presence of God and are accepting of each other. That’s the biggest part of Assembly. GO TO www.BROADSTYOUTH.org/forms to fill out your waiver and turn it in to Adam in the church office by June 5th. Parent(s) will be responsible for getting students to Tennessee Wesleyan College, Athens, TN.

PASTOR’S LETTER

8 | Monthly Messenger - bsumc.org

On Wednesday, June 8, Holston Annual Conference will end with Bishop Mary Virginia Taylor setting the pastoral appointments for the next year. At that time, Skip White and I will be appointed to Broad Street UMC for our fifth year. We feel privileged to serve God at Broad Street UMC. When we first came here, we identified six areas that would serve as our leadership focus: 1. Discerning God’s Vision for future ministry and mission 2. Allowing God to unify us in Mission 3. Becoming passionate about worship 4. Living lives of Christian Hospitality (Invite, Welcome, Inform, Connect) 5. Identify, recruit, train and connect New Leaders 6. Committing to growth in Financial Discipleship As we begin our fifth year, these areas are still our leadership focus. As a congregation, we have made strides in all six areas. For that, we celebrate! However, there is much more that needs to be done and has to be done for us to be totally faithful to God’s calling upon our lives to “EMPOWER ALL PEOPLE TO BECOME DEEPLY COMMITTED CHRISTIANS BY OFFERING HELP, HOPE, AND HEALING IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.” Let us pray for ourselves and each other as we allow God to use us and the resources God has given us to CHANGE LIVES, TRANSFORM OUR COMMUNITY, AND PUT OUR FAITH INTO

ACTION!

Sharing the journey with you,

Randy
