Summer Youth Director I am so glad to announce that Nancy de Leon will be serving as our summer youth director where she will give special attention to our middle and high school student ministries. Nancy is a product of our neighborhood and ministries and has a great heart for the Lord and young people. She graduated from Capital University with a teaching degree and has spent the past year teaching in the Columbus City School system. She also has led the Mighty Oaks Day Camp Ministries for a number of years and will be doing so again this summer. We are blessed to have her with us! Nancy will be leading bible studies on Wednesday nights at the Youth Warehouse and an outreach night for students on Sundays at the Christian Conference Center as well as leading special trips with the students. Summer Youth Calendar Cards are available.
Summer is Time to be Refreshed! I took my first dip in the Hilltop Pool the opening weekend and the cold water awaken me to the start of summer. I love summer. I love it because it is a season of restoring our souls to the delights of God around us. It is a time to slow down and enjoy. As you prepare for your summer here are my summer tips. Relax – Your family is probably like most families where September through May is packed full of schedules and activities. This summer relax and soak in God’s goodness. Read an adventure book, take long drives, have an outdoor movie night or just take some time off to enjoy God and your family. Restore – Summer is a great time to restore your soul with some fun and laughter. Believe me, we need some of that. Life is stressful and we forget that it is good to play. Play with your kids, nieces and nephews and for those of us married…include your spouse. And don’t forget…God is the creator of laughter and lemonade so have friends over for lemonade and a fun game of cards. Remember – The bible says that we should not forget the Lord (Deuteronomy 8:11-14). God is responsible for the sunshine and the cool breeze. Let’s not forget Him. Find Him in your everyday experience and I encourage you to find Him in your Hillcrest experience. Check out the many camps listed in this newsletter that Hillcrest offers and associates with.

Vines of Life Garden
Seeing Colors and Textures Since red draws hummingbirds, red flowers have been planted throughout the garden along with low-growing grasses and shrubs in variegated greens, sunflowers, bee balm, blueberry bushes, and a rainbow color of nector-rich flowers to attract butterflies and bees. The grapevine this spring is full of new shoots and they look promising to bring clusters of sweet grapes that will surely draw in the wildlife. Come and take time to see the rainbow.
Evening Garden Days begin Wednesday, June 3, at 6:30 and will continue throughout the growing season. Volunteers are needed to mow the grass, weed, prune, water, and clear garden debris. Plant and flower donations appreciated. Please share your ideas for the garden.
If you are interested in having a garden plot to raise vegetables, there are Garden Plot Registration Forms for 2015 located in the fellowship hall. Please consider growing vegetables for the area neighbors and the Westside Free Store.
See Terry Tharp if you have questions or need more information.

Pioneer Clubs Ends Another Great Year at HBC
This year's pine car derby was a lot of fun. 17 cars were entered for the big race, and the excitement never ended ‘til the final results were announced. Thank you to everyone that participated in this year's race, the cars looked awesome and I know a lot of hard work went into making them. Also thank you to everyone who came out to help set up, tear down, serve concessions, run the race and cheer on the racers! Already looking forward to next year :)
Thanks for another great season of Pioneer Clubs. Enjoy a fun and safe summer and we'll see you back at club in September. Be watching for exciting details about next year's club. You won't want to miss it!
