Enrolling in SCE’s Summer Discount Plan (SDP) for commercial customers can provide your business with as much as $195* in savings during the summer season for each of your air conditioning units. Once you sign up and choose a plan option, SCE will install, at no cost to you, a device on your existing central air conditioner(s). Then, during an energy event, we may use the device to cycle your air conditioner off and on, based on the plan option you choose. Your fan will still run though, to allow air to continuously circulate in your place of business. Your savings will appear as a credit on your summer electric bills. Once you sign up, you’ll save automatically every summer, year after year. SDP energy events can be called year round, with a maximum of 180 event hours each calendar year. * The estimated savings amounts represent the savings with a typical 5-ton central air conditioning unit. Savings could increase with larger units and decrease for smallerones. Maximum credit amounts are subject to certain minimum usage requirements and vary by central air conditioner tonnage. Credits based on enrollment in program from June 1 to October 1. Enrollment after June 1 will result in prorated savings beginning from the next scheduled meter read date after your application is processed and your device is installed and activated. SCE may need to test the device. The credit amounts and program options are subject to change by the California Public Utilities Commission. An Edison SmartConnect® meter or interval data recorder (IDR) meter capable of registering hourly interval usage data is required for enrollment in the SDP program. If removed from the program for failing to meet the minimum electric usage requirement, you will not be allowed to re-enroll for the following 12-month period. This program is not recommended for those with health problems such as asthma, emphysema, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions or those who are unable to tolerate high temperatures. SDP courtesy alerts are provided as an optional notification only, and not a guarantee that an event will impact one or any of your service accounts. Failure to receive an SDP courtesy alert does not exempt program participants from load reduction during an event. Subscribing to, or receiving, SDP courtesy alerts does not replace having a functioning interactive load control or cycling device attached to your air conditioning (HVAC) unit(s) at the location(s) of your service account(s). SCE is not responsible for any loss or damages to you or your business resulting from receiving courtesy alerts, or the failure to receive courtesy alerts. SCE is not responsible for any service, subscription, or equipment costs associated with receiving courtesy alerts via email, voice, or text communications. This information is meant as an aid to understanding SCE’s Summer Discount Plan. It does not replace the CPUC-approved tariffs. Any inconsistencies between this material and SCE’s tariffs are unintended, and the tariffs prevail.
