Learn how to make different kinds of sushi and create your own simple origami bookmarks in this tasty class. Saki is a nice accompaniment if you’d like to bring some for your drinks! Thursday, July 6, 6-8pm Fee: Member $17/Non Member $20 Tropical Beach Painting Use warm col- ors to create a tropical feel and then paint palm trees, a simple ocean scene with a sailboat, or dolphins. A great evening for the whole family! • “Tour” China through the art and text in the gallery. • Dabble in traditional Chinese crafts, calligraphy and speak- ing Mandarin. • Enjoy the strains of authentic Chinese instruments played by members of the Jasmine Field Orchestra as well as dancers and other performing artists. • Top off the evening with a delicious taste of Chinese cuisine. For ages 7 and up, the experience includes a “treasure hunt” of art elements to be found within the exhibit and a hands-on activity creating a traditional Chinese craft. Inspired by a long and rich history, Chinese art includes symbols and motifs that tell a story about the culture. Colors, animals, fruits, flowers, mythical creatures take on special meanings and appear in scrolls, jade carvings, lacquerware, tea ware, clothing and textiles, and furniture. Chinese Art Workshop (Bring Lunch) Look at the Chinese exhibit in the Gallery and then go up to the studio to create Chinese paper cuts, handmade Chinese but-tons, clay stamps, and create natural pigment for stamping. This workshop involves paper, fabric, natural dye and clay. All of these activities will lead to the final project, a handmade ancient Chinese notebook.July 15, 10:30am-1:30pmFee: Member $25/Non Member $30 (Parent add $10)

Tropical Landscape PaintingUse watercolors and acrylics to create a beautiful tropical scene. This is an easy technique with beautiful results. July 1, 10:30am-12pm Fee: Member $15/Non Member $17 (Parent add $10)
