Become familiar with science practices and inquiry-based teaching and learning methods by studying local habitats, conducting field research, and designing investigations and field experiences that have direct applicability to elementary and middle school curriculum science standards and practices. Learn principles of ecology, including ecosystems, habitats, adaptation, food webs, cycles and systems, energy flow, and the influence of climate change, and their connections to the earth, life, and physical science standards.

Investigate climate science and community-based solutions with local scientists. Learn the principles of systems, including systems thinking, ecological restoration, climate resiliency, adaptation and mitigation, trophic interactions, and how to understand global trends and identify local solutions as it relates to the earth, life, engineering, and physical science standards. Discover simple lessons involving real data sets collected in Massachusetts and beyond to help your students practice science skills, from asking questions to data analysis and communication.
