When a man loves a woman, she becomes his weak-ness. When a woman truly loves a man, he becomes her strength. This is an exchange of power. This is what Jesus Christ does for us—He is our strength and redeemer!

The best paradigm in the Bible that illustrates the re-lationship between Jesus Christ and the Church is that of a bride and a groom! We are the bride; Jesus is the bridegroom. However, the bride is not just anyone who calls himself/herself a member or attendee of the Church. The bride is a remnant—that committed part of the Church that is honestly a follower of Christ. The bride is the one who responds to the voice of the Bridegroom and loves Him, not for position or status or blessings, but simply because He first loved her! The bride is one who has made the bridegroom her desire—He is the object of her affection. This is a unique and loyal love relationship. This is not a super-ficial relationship but the type that is not about find-ing someone to live with; it’s about finding the One you cannot live without!

The bride has been like a sleeping beauty—in a deep coma-like sleep, while evil has proliferated in our so-ciety. But a trumpet has sounded in the spirit—it is a wake-up call to the bride of Christ. This is not merely in response to the recent Supreme Court decision granting the right for same-sex marriages. The Church granted license to heterosexual immorality (adultery, fornication [sex outside of marriage] pornography, lust, etc.) by never opening its mouth to bring the truth of God’s Word to the matter. God is repulsed by SIN whether heterosexual or homosexual. We have a sin problem in our world. It is not new, but it has grown to an unhealthy degree. That’s why the bride is being awakened!

Listen to the words of Isaiah the prophet: “Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength! Put on your garments of splendor…Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck…For this is what the Lord says: You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed” (Isaiah 53:1-3 NIV).

Bishop Dale C. Bronner

Because it is the voice of the Bridegroom that awak-ens us, when we get up, we should fix our eyes upon Him! This is not the time to get in the mirror and fo-cus on self. When there is a crisis, you don’t have time to primp in the mirror. It is the time to quickly obey the Lord’s voice. How we look is not important at that time; what we do in response to the Lord’s voice is premium.

Now is not the time to pray in the mirror about every-thing that’s wrong with you. Everybody has problems. You’ll always be dealing with something. What is im-portant at this time is to instantly obey the Lord and pray “Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done…!” Get your eyes out of the mirror and on the Lord! Lord to-ward Him. Set your affections on things above! Pray! Meditate in the Word of God. Go on a fast—give up something you really enjoy. Praise and worship God every day! And live to become an answer to some-body’s prayer!

As we awaken and arise, Jesus Christ will give us light! He will show us the next thing we need to do! He is our leader. He will guide us into all truth. The words that the apostle Paul spoke to the Church at Ephesus are just as relevant to us today: Eph. 5:8-17

8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10and find out what pleases the Lord. 11Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.12It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.14This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” 15Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Let these words sink in. Let’s be the Bride that our Bridegroom, Jesus Christ, deserves. Awake! Arise! Obey! Selah.

2nd Annual Grand Culminating Event

Elite 31 was birthed out of our passion for woman’s development and was designed to bring multi-dimensional development to the lives of young women. Too often, we saw women walking in darkness to some aspects of their personhood. We felt a great burden as we saw so many young women in need of spiritual maturity, depth in their thinking, class, poise, financial

literacy, leadership skills, meekness, emotional stability, professionalism and much more. Through Elite 31, we seek to transform lives of young women forever by using exposure, experi-ences, teaching and mentorship. In light of the significance of this cause, we sincerely thank you for your support of Elite 31 and its amazing students.

"Church" can hold a variety of meanings for people. I'm glad to say that it has never been just a building for me. Word of Faith started off as my Mom's church, where she got prayer, where she worshipped and got married. Sometime down the line though, the words that Bishop spoke wedged themselves into my heart and became the foundation of a faith I call my own. This church is my family, my home. I'm so grateful to have had such a strong spiritual family.

P arents/Guardians play an important role as they guide and support their children concerning their educa-tion. Strong motivation and engagement helps the student to achieve and ultimately helps to put them on track for success in life. Research demonstrates that there are a number of positive outcomes associated

with parental engagement in their child's education, including: academic performance, attendance and gradua-tion rates, dropout rates and at-risk behaviors such as alcohol and drug use. Hands-on guidance of a loving parent positively impacts students' attitudes, behaviors and overall well-being. Here at WOF, we also believe in nurturing our children in the admonition of the Lord. Meet some of WOF’s 2015 grads and read about their aspirations for the future. They have also expressed the impact of the WOF ministry on their lives.

MAKES THE DREAM WORK

Graduated from: Riverwood International High School College/Future plans: Hampton University/Business Administration Parents: Deacon Benny and Mrs. Marci Bennafield

Membership at Word of Faith has impacted my life in multiple ways. My family has been attending WOF my entire life. In the children’s ministry, I was introduced to the Bible and the Lord. Once I became a WOF member I learned who Jesus really is. Being a member has giv-en me many opportunities for life lessons. I have worked at Camp 212 and as a volunteer in the Hospitality Ministry for the past four years. Doing these jobs, I have learned how to work well with others, patience and leadership.

Michael is the 2015 recipient of the Deacon Robert Lofton Servant Lead-ership Award. Michael was selected, from among 30 other covenant

member students, based on his willingness to serve at WOF and his outstanding character.

Being a member of Word of Faith has impacted my life in the fact that it has taught me many life lessons. Word of Faith has taught me the value of being a virtuous woman. This is going to be im-portant to have a strong hold of who I am, going into college. Word of Faith has also taught me the value of family and relationships. Building relationships through God is something many college stu-dents lose and I feel as if I will be prepared when going to college. Overall, WOF has made me a strong woman.

Graduated from: Chattahoochee High School College/Future plans: Jacksonville University/Professional Pilot Parents: Deacon Jeff and Mrs. Lisa Tharpe

Being a member of WOF has shown me that life does not revolve around me. It opened my eyes and showed me that I must be will-ing to give up some of my time for others, especially loved ones, when it is needed. I also have learned how big of an impact tith-ing has on my life. Tithing is one of many ways I give my thanks unto God. Being a member of Word of Faith has taught me to be thankful to God for the good times and the bad, when I get a new job and/or when I lose a good friend.

Graduated from: Lyman Ward Military Academy College/Future plans: Gordon State College/Computer Science Parents: Deacon Alfred and Mrs. Jill Watkins

Being a part of the WOF ministry has taught me how to pray, worship and how to become a leader and follower of Jesus Christ. I have served as an usher, camp counselor, member of BBI setup team and ministered with Jesus in Motion. At WOF, I am surrounded by many mentors. As seeds have been sown into my life, I’ve learned how to sow into the lives of others.

COVENANT KEEPERS CORNER

Q What has your experience as CK Mentors been like so far? Our experience as CK Mentors has been great. We’ve gone out a few times with each of our couples and talk/text regularly. Our engaged couple, Ansia and Bradley, is moving out of town. We plan to meet with Jodie and Tinesha at least once a month depending on Jodie’s schedule. We’ve had some serious heart to heart dis-cussions and some “been there” moments.

Q Do you think it has helped your mentee couple(s) and if so in what ways? Yes, because they know there is a listening ear that doesn’t judge, but lets them talk it out and if asked, to give our opinion. They have an example of a Christian mar-riage, of how you “do marriage” and how to tailor both chal-lenges and successes to what works in their marriage. They know there is a secure place they can go. They know there is no topic that is off limits and if we don’t have the answer, we will either help them find it or point them in the right direction to get the answer.

Q What has your experience as a CK Mentee Couple been like so far? Our experience as a CK Mentee Couple has been awesome. We be-gan this mentorship program to ob-tain guidance from a couple who would not only give us advice from a biblical standpoint, but be an exam-ple in our lives by sharing their past experiences and knowing what has led them to where they are today. Obtaining a relationship with our mentors has met our expectations in the program, and we are enthusiastic about recommending Covenant Keepers to other married couples.

Q What has your experience as CK Mentors been like so far? The number one experience is that we've made new friends. It's given us the opportunity to share experiences

we've learned in our 35 years of marriage. Marriage is great, but it takes work. Because of that, it's our goal to listen and share in order to improve their relationship, try to avoid pitfalls and do God's will. We also want the couples to know that there is a safe haven to share and that it goes no further than us. We only want the best for them.

Q Do you think it has helped your mentee couple(s) and if so in what ways? We believe that this experience has shown the couples that in any circumstance that arise, they aren't the only couple experiencing it. That it can be overcome with patience, communication, and God's help. With having chil-dren, it's important to plan time to kindle their relationship. Even though we're individuals, as a married couple, you're a team. They must have one another's back and continue to complement each other's gift.

Q What has your experience as a CK Mentee Couple been like so far? So far, the program has been great. We have a lot of things in common with our Mentors, Aaron and Carmen. They have been able to give us guidance on how to keep our marriage strong.

Marriage mentoring is extremely effective in impacting the lives of married couples who desire to grow

strong together in the Lord. Word of Faith Covenant Keepers is committed to helping marriages

heal and become whole again. If you would like to receive more information about Covenant Keepers, call Word of Faith at 770.874. 8400 and ask for Rev. Charles Houston, email us at [email protected], or “Like” our Facebook page and leave comments or questions at https://www.facebook.com/wofcovenantkeepers.

How Has Covenant Keepers Helped? By Dr. Charles Houston

The Covenant Keepers Marriage Mentoring Program was launched in March of 2014 and we began pairing Mentor couples with Mentee couples over 7 months ago. Of the mentor relationships that have been established, we gathered some feedback as to how those relationships were going. The proven positive effect of marriage mentorship is already manifesting. I asked two of our mentor

couples as well as 2 of their mentee couples some questions. The following was their re-sponses.

AAA fter 12 weeks of rigorous training and study facilitated by Deacons Richard Horton and Troy Oli-ver, 54 new deacons were installed by Bishop Bronner on June 11, 2015. The candidates perse-vered through many leadership courses including: Description of a Deacon, Deacon As a Servant, Equipping Deacons for Counseling and Praying for the Pastor. Our new deacons are part of a di-

verse brotherhood from ages 27-70, with occupations ranging from accountants to construction workers to retired military personnel. WOF is a large congregation with numerous tasks to be fulfilled in the role of the Deacon. Our new dea-cons will work under a canopy of ministries at the Cathedral. The role of the deacon is to serve the needs of the people. Just as Jesus came as a servant, the deacons are designated as servant leaders. A great role model for deacons is Stephen, who was ordained by the Apostles to serve the church in Jerusalem. He was described as full of faith, power and the Holy Spirit. Acts 6:8.

Deacon comes from the Greek word diakonos, meaning “servant.” The prefix “dia-” means “through” and “konos” means “common.” This is someone who works by means of common duties - a servant. It came into Latin as “diaconus” and from there into English as “deacon.”

Weak or tight back or abdominal muscles cannot support your back properly, leading to pain and injury risk. Work with a spine specialist to find exercises that stretch and strengthen back and abdominal muscles, such as yoga and pilates,” says a recent video series from the North American Spine Society. If one of the country’s premier medical associations recognizes that a strong core is essential to spine health, and that yoga and pilates are good methods to achieve a strong core, maybe there is something more to it.

So, what is meant by “core muscles”? Accord-ing to Mayo Clinic, the core muscles are the muscles around your low back, abdomen, hips and pelvis and training those muscles leads to better balance and stability. A recent statement from Mayo’s website tells us: “Strong core muscles make it easier to do everything from swinging a golf club to getting a glass from the top shelf or bending down to tie your shoes. Weak core muscles leave you susceptible to poor posture, lower back pain and muscle injuries.”

Contrary to popular belief, pilates is not just a discipline for serious athletes, bal-lerinas and Hollywood starlets. In fact, pilates was named for its creator, Joseph Pilates, who developed his method of exercise while working as a nurse in a WWI war camp. He rigged a system of springs and bars to the injured soldiers’ beds to assist them in getting out of bed and doing rehabilitation without causing further damage to their bodies.

What people often associate with yoga is a slow, relaxation type of yoga that focuses on meditation or spirituality. When in reality there are many different types of yoga. Some styles move very quickly and are designed to make you work up a sweat, while others move slowly and can focus more on the mental aspect.

Another common misconception is that pilates and yoga are only for the young, flexible or very fit person. When in actuality, both can be practiced by people at almost any age or fitness level because they both offer modifi-cations that can accommodate different needs and they are both low-impact, placing less stress on the joints than some other forms of exercise.

Of course, there are many methods of strengthening and improving your health, pilates and yoga are only two of those. And as always, talk to your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

T his summer, I visited Cedine Bible Camp in Spring City, TN. My week-long camp experience at Cedine

was really great! They have several camps for different age groups: Junior (ages 8-12), Middlers (ages 11-15), Teen (ages 13-18) and Man Camp (ages 13-18). At Cedi-ne, you have the opportunity to participate in activities such as: swimming, biking, canoeing, animal stockade, horseback riding, craft, and more. My personal favorites were archery, riflery, and craft. When you arrive at Cedi-ne, you sign in first. Second, you find your cabin counselor on the board posted outside and go to your cabin in the Girls or Boys Village. Then, the fun begins... Every year, there is a theme for the whole summer and this year the theme was “Unashamed” (Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…”). This past sum-mer, I learned so much. I re-learned how to ride a bike and learned how to be “unashamed” of the gospel through Bible study hour with our counselors. Cedine was so much fun this year and I cannot wait to go back next summer.
