What’s a zoetrope?Learn how to make a zoetrope and other useful and

interesting scientific projects from recycled materials.

We are pleased to offer our patrons access to Transparent Language. This web-based language-learning program offers more than 80 languages, including english as a Second Language for a variety of non-native english speakers. You can access the courses within the Library, on your own computer at home, or on a mobile device via a free mobile app.

This language-learning program is great for learners of all levels. It offers top-of-the-line coursework with great additional resources.

Kindle fire hDx

The Library has three new Kindle HDX tablets available for check out Read eBooks, access the Internet, watch Amazon prime videos and use a variety of Amazon Kindle apps. They come preloaded with a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles as well as popular apps Kindles may be reserved and are checked out for two weeks. These new Kindles are the lightest yet. Stop by the Help Desk to check on availability.

We provide two different resources for downloading audio books to your iPod, MP3 player or computer. OneClickdigital and Overdrive are both available through our website and provide access to downloadable audio books. Overdrive provides access to ebooks as well. They can be downloaded to your Kindle or Nook, computer and other Apple and Android devices.

We also offer magazine downloads through the zinio magazine database.

E-Library NEws Want to learn how to watch a movie, TV show, listen to or read a book through the library’s website? Need to manage your library account or reserve an item from home? Need help with your computer software or tablet or smartphone? The library can help. We will be offering drop in computer help sessions from 9-12 on July 9 and August 13. There are weekly appointments available to work with Teen Tech Tutor volunteers on Tuesdays. Private one on one assistance is available by appointment by contacting the Help Desk at 986-1047 ext 3 or [email protected].

The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation congratulates the winners of its 8th annual college scholarship competition. All are seniors at Warwick valley High School: Sarah Gordon, Kayla Madden and Bridget Scheinert. The students responded to the essay topic “If I were a wealthy philanthropist, how I might give to benefit my community.” Sarah will attend SuNY-orange to pursue a liberal arts/humanities degree, and upon completion, hopes to attend emerson College to pursue a communications degree. Kayla will matriculate at Binghamton university, planning to major in computer science, and Bridget will undertake biochemical engineering at SuNY-Stony Brook. each scholarship winner will receive $1,000 toward college tuition, thanks to the generosity of Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes, sponsors since the inception of the scholarship competition in 2007, and of C. Hope Arber, a longtime Library supporter. The Foundation will announce the topic of next year’s essay competition in January 2015. College-bound seniors who reside in the Warwick valley Central School District are eligible to apply regardless of which high school they attend.
