Whether you are new to exercise or you want to take your workouts to the next level, our Personal Training Program can assist you in reaching your goals! Our fitness staff canprovide you with both education and instruction to enhance your overall health and fitness.

Students can sign up for the initial package for $45 (2 sess ions in lcuding workout program) with each addit ional hour session costing $ 15/session. Faculty/Staff & CRC members can sign up for the initial package for $60 and each addi t ional hour sess ion costs $30/sess ion.

Personal Training

Diana is a NETA Cert i f ied Personal Trainer, Group Fitness & Group Cycle Instructor. She will be graduating from UML t h i s s p r i n g w i t h a degree i n English & plans to con i tnue i n the Graduate School for Education. Diana aspires to teach high school English, c o a c h , & continue working in the f i tness industry.

Michael graduated from UML in 2011 with a major in Exercise Physiology & minor in Human Nutrition. He i s a l so an ACSM Certif ied Personal Trainer. Michael is currently enrolled in the Biomedical Engineering Ph.D program and teaches Exercise Physiology labs @ UML. He is p a s s i o n a t e a b o u t improving body composition and h i s career goals invo lve research ing supplement & exercise interventions. Michael was also recenly named the 2012 Graduate Student of the Year at UMass Lowell.

Campus Rec Updates

Summer Facility Maintenance & Cleaning The Campus Recreation Center will be closed August 4th-12th for facility maintenace & cleaning. The basketball courts will also be unavailable between August 4th - 19th while the wood floors are being refinished. The courts will reopen for normal use on Monday, August 20th.

New Campus Recreat ion Sta f f Meghan Flynn is the new Coordinator of Intramural Sports & Summer Camps at Campus Recreation. Meg is a recent graduate of Springfield College where she received her M.Ed. in Sports and Recreation Management. She also received a Bachelor of Arts from Franklin Pierce University where she played D-II soccer.

Meg has been involved in intramural sports in both her undergraduate and graduate career and was the Intramural Participant of the year at Franklin Pierce University in 2010. Meg worked for Campus Recreation as an in intern in 2011 and fi l led in as interim Coordinator of IM sports this spring. Contact: [email protected]/978.934.2393.

Social Dance Sampler ClassIn this 4-week sampler class you will learn 4 popular styles of social dance. Each class is 90 minutes long and you will learn two dances per lesson. Dances will be repeated two weeks in a row for best results and retention of steps. The class will be held on Tuesday evenings 6:30pm - 8pm July 10th - 31st in CRC Studio 1.

Learn Salsa & Swing in weeks 1 + 2, followed by Waltz & Tango in weeks 3 + 4. This class is designed for beginners and no partner is necessary! Register by July 10th at the CRC Welcome Desk or online @ www.uml.edu/Instructional.

Registration Fee: Students-$25, Non-Student Members-$40, Non-CRC Member-$55

Zumba® BASIC 1 Cert i f ication ClassThis course teaches you the foundation and formula to teach a Zumba®class. You will learn the steps to four basic rhythms (merengue, salsa, cumbia, reggaeton). You’ll learn how to put these steps together into a song, and how to create your first Zumba class. We’ll provide you with all the tools and resources you will need to teach a Zumba class. License: One-year basic Zumba license. Prerequisite: None.

This class will be held inside the Campus Recreation Center on Saturday, July 21st, 8am-5pm. Register by July 14th. Registration Fee: $250/participant

RecKids Summer Camp 2012RecKids is a recreational day camp for children between the ages of 6 and 11 years old and is in its third year of existence. We aim to provide a safe, supportive and fun environment for our campers. There are discounts available for Umass Lowell community members.

Summer 2012 Camp Sessions: Session 1: June 25th - June 29th

Session 2: July 9th - July 13th

Session 3: July 16th - July 20th

Camp Activities: •Fitness •Arts & Crafts •Outdoor Adventures •Sports •Swimming •Field Trips

Camp Hours: Camp sessions are scheduled Monday - Friday with structured activities from 8am to 4pm. Camper drop-off is between 7:30am - 8:00am & pick up is between 4:00pm - 4:30pm. There is after care available until 5:30pm if needed.

Fees: For active CRC members and UMass Lowell faculty/staff the cost is $200/week for the first child and an $150 per additional child/week. The cost for non-members is $250/week for the first child and $200/week for every additional child. The fee for after care (4:00pm - 5:30pm) is $50/camper/week.

Club Sports Spring 2012 HighlightsMen’s & Women’s RugbyCongratulations to our Men’s & Women’s Rugby Teams who competed at the Rugby Northeast 7’s conference tournament and captured their first ever NE -10 Conference Championship!

The Ultimate Frisbee Club competed in the High Tide College Spring Break Tournament 2012 in St. Simons Island, Georgia, March 12th - March 15th. There were over 25 schools who competed with UML in the men’s open division including BU, Bucknell, Colgate, Ithaca, Marquette, Rutguers, UNH, and URI,

On 3/28, the Racquetbal l Club competed at the National Intercollegiate Racquetball Championship in Phoenix, Arizona.

On 4/14, the Men’s Crew Team competed in a race against the Coast Guard Academy, Colby College, & Mass Maritime. The Varsity 4+ boat came in 1st place and the Novice 4+ boat came in 3rd

UMass Lowell Kayak Center

There will be several kayak instructional programs, activities, & tours held at the KayakCenter this summer. Class dates and fees are listed below. For more information, please contact [email protected] / 978.934.2327.

Kayak Instructional Programs•ACA Level 1 Intro to Kayaking: June 12 & 14, 5-8pm / $100 per person. Children aged 14 and up are welcome to participate with a parent!

•Quickstart to Flatwater Kayaking: Two days, two-hour sessions / $60 per person.Dates: June 4&6 6-8pm, June 23&30 9-11am, July 2&5 6-8pm, or July 9&11 9-11am.Children aged 14 and up are welcome to participate with a parent!

•Youth Quickstart to Flatwater Kayaking: June 26 & 28, 6-8pm / $75 per person.Appropriate for youth aged 13 - 16.

•Kayaking Kids Instructional Program: Three days, 3-hour sessions / $100 per person9am - 12pm: July 17-19, July 24 - 26, or July 31- August 2. Appropriate for kids ages 10 - 13. Kayak Activities & Tours•Water Sports Festival: Saturday June 2, 10am-2pm / FREE The Annual Paddling Festival is a day for the communtiy to come learn about our summer programs, try our different kayaks & watch rowing demos. No registration is necessary and appropriate for all ages. Children must be accompanied by adult.

•Free Kids Kayak Clinic: June 5 or 19, 6-7pmThese free clinics are a chance for kids in the community to try out kayaking for free!Parents will also learn about our other kids kayaking programs. No registration is necessary. Children must be accompanied by adult to attend.

•Sunset & Full Moon Paddles / $30 per personCome paddle as the sun sets or under the moonlight on the Merrimack! Appropriate for adults and children 13 and older. -Sunset Paddles 7-9pm: June 13, June 27, July 16, July 23, or August 9. -Full Moon Paddles: 9 -11pm: June 3, July 3, or August 1.

•Fourth of July Fireworks Tour: July 4 8-10pm / $30 per personWatch the fireworks from the Merrimack River! We will paddle out during sunset and find a good spot to view the fireworks. Appropriate for adults & children 13 & older.
