Silicon carbide dissolves rather than melts in the stack, which leads to better silicon recoveries in the iron. And since SiC does not oxidize it passes through the high oxidation zone of the bed to dissolve in the iron in the well. More importantly Silicon Carbide is unique in that it contains two essential elements which are of great interest and benefit to melt operations in that it provides an inexpensive source of both silicon and carbon. An introduction to our CompanyWho We AreABASIC is the first and only manufacturer of Silicon Carbide (SiC) in the Middle East. Beginning operations in 1995, the plant is located in the southwestern city of Abadan (Iran), at the special Arvand FreeZone.

Our manufacturing facilities take advantage of the latest and most advanced technology in it’s processes. The most important industries for SiC are the metallurgy and foundry industries; this is in order to increase the percentage of silicon and carbon contents of their final products.

Our productsSilicon Carbide is a compound of Silicon and Carbon with good heat-resistance and heat-conductibility. SiC characteristics:

• high hardness• high thermal consistency• very good resistance at high

temperatures• electrical conductivity• is a semiconductor• Si and C as alloying additive

Our product are divided into 3 categories:

Abrasives Crushed fine and sharp silicon carbide for bonded, coated and granular abrasive applications.

Refractory Due to its high temperature and abrasive resistance it is used to make refractories for furnaces and other high temperature components. The steel making industry is one of the largest users of Silicon Carbide refractory products.

Metallurgical Silicon carbide is used for the de-

oxidation and re-carbonation of cast iron and steel in foundries. It is used in the foundry industry for electric furnace production of gray, ductile, and malleable iron.  It is an excellent source of carbon and silicon, rendering the iron more responsive to deoxidizing the iron, which enhances furnace lining life.

Advantage of SiC over FeSi Why use silicon carbide (SiC) in your melt operation instead of ferrosilicon (FeSi)? Whether in a coreless furnace or cupola, the benefits of using SiC over FeSi are numerous.

Location Our geographic location allows us great access to both the local and world markets. With our largest markets located in Europe, India, and the Gulf region.

“We recognize your needs”

Our Goal ABASIC is dedicated to delivering consistent quality materials on time

and according to customer specification. We understand the value of co-operation among suppliers and buyers in todays business environment and do our best to conform to the

strictest standards of business management (ISO 9001:2008) Registration No. DE-257705.

ANALYTICAL TESTING

Our manufacturing facility is equipped with the necessary tools to confirm the quality and specification of our outgoing product. These tests

include:

Total, free carbon

We test for total carbon within our Silicon Carbide using the German

ELTRA CS-2000 Automatic Analyzer.

We test the free carbon using the combustion method for silicon carbide samples.

Moisture

We test for moisture content for various samples using a drying oven.

Loss or gain on ignition

We test LOI or GOI using a furnace.

Sample Preparation

We crush and grind lab size samples of products using a lab size pulverizer and our technicians are instructed to scrutinize these samples against the strictest standards.

MSDS Information

Please refer to CAS Code: 409-21-2
