“You’ve got to have determination to be successful in meeting your goals. I was not focused when I was younger in school. Now I am a single parent with three children and two jobs in two different cities. I travel to a third city (Roxboro) where I live and study for the GED test. One of my jobs is temporary unless I can get my GED. If I get my GED, I can become a full-

time permanent employee at that job. My goal is to finish my GED by April. I have passed three parts of

it and have two more to go and then I will have my

GED!”

Maria passed the American Citizenship test while studying for the GED test. She said that the GED social studies portion was most helpful to her in preparing for her American Citizenship exam.

Joseph completed the GED test in January 2009 in time to enroll into PCC’s spring semester college courses. Joseph plans to earn an Associate in Applied Science and transfer to a four year college to study psychology. Currently, he works with an accounting firm in Roxboro while also attending college.
