SUMMARY QUESTION 5

How did you attract/address your audience ?

Page 2: Summary question-5

Summary of my target audience

■My target audience is women and men aged 35+ of just about any ethnicity or social class.

Page 3: Summary question-5

Casting ■ Overall I don’t think the casting was the best, as the cast members did not

look the age we wanted them too, we were aiming for late 20s early 30s aged characters unfortunately, we did not have the connections to be able to build a full cast around this ae group so instead my group and I decided that the best thing to do is build our cast around our peers age group and use our peers, instead our cast were blatantly teenagers.

■ The fact our cast looked so young took away a lot of the realism so our primary TA simply were not able to relate and connect with the characters, we also had an all male cast witch meant all the males could easily relate and connect to the characters but the other 50% of are TA were not able to (or at least in the opening)

■ I am glad that we were able to connect with at least half of our primary TA, but if I were to redo the process I would write in a female role so female audience members can instantly connect and relate with her, I would also recast the entire cast for older actors, as it would be a lot more believable.

Mise-en-scene

■ We were told to make sure everything on screen was a believable as possible, so everything had too look realistic in our production, I believe we achieved this (other than the actors looking realistic),

■ All our actors were wearing time period appropriate costume, which defiantly gave off the right tones of the 60s and also gangster type characters.

■ The locations we used were time period appropriate and we had no footage we couldn’t use due to modern building getting into frame

■ We used fake blood which if I'm being truthful could have been used better and made to look more realistic, but was still far more realistic than not using it.

sound

■ I believe my group used sound to great use, our target audience said they want wanted to be able to believe the piece, so we had to set the scene for our audience through narration, our main characters actor Duane did the narration very well and was in character, so the target audience could get an immediate back story, be able to watch our opening and understand what is going on, if we hadn’t included this I don’t think our piece would have been understood and there for believable.

■ We also added time appropriate music once again to set the scene and cater for our target audience.

Titles

■ Our titles were in a 60s style font to go with the general essence of 60s, this reinforced the setting of the film, which easy confirmed to the audience by the narration.

■ Our film title is in a much more modern style of font, this sounds like it would be out of place in our film bit I disagree it shows the comparison from then to now.

Promotion

■ The very first place I would start promoting would be the internet, just about every 35+ year old uses a computer in there everyday life and if not a computer but a device that can connect to the internet, this is a list of just a few websites I would want to promote the film –

■ Spotify – most popular music streaming site, we would be able to connect to not only our TA but younger people whom are part of our secondary TA.

■ Facebook – used widely by the target audience, more and more people from our demographic are moving to the website now than younger people, it would be perfect to place adverts on as well as a page for the film – which is very cheap and effective.

■ Dave – watched widely by older men, an advert on this tv channel would instantly reach men over the age of 35 and entice them to watch it.

Scooping out our Target audience ■ The following slides show the questions we asked and a summary of

our target audience interviews, we did this so we could get a clear and concise view on what our target audience dislikes and likes and also, how to attract them.

■ This process was very useful as it gave me an insight into who our target audience really are and gave me information that otherwise I would not of known about, therefore I could of made the wrong decision in production.

■ We choose to interview 2 women and 2 men over the age of 35, this is so they are members of my groups Target audience.
