We are greatly honored to invite you to world’s festival, the World Taekwondo Hanmadang 2008.

The World Taekwondo Hanmadang 2008 which has been held for 17 years will be held in LA, USA for the first time.

I hope this event will offer the best opportunity of harmonization we’ve ever had.

It’s a good chance to prove that Taekwondo has beautiful and valuable things just like love and peace through Hanmadang and it shows the con-summation of the best event ever have had.You can confirm the sublime of unlimited worth and spirit of Taekwondo this time.The World is composed of one community now. It means we should corporate and be suitable to live in one community. This is right Tae-kwondo spirit. It is the ultimated pursuit of Taekwondo to make the spirit of coexistence effective regardless of racism and ideology. The World Taekwondo Hanmadang is right event for Taekwondo spirit to be realized and for people to harmonize.

Every official and participant!Please show your capacity for great achievements you have practiced. And you also encourage other participants then you exchange feeling like love of family.

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the World Taekwondo Hanmadang 2008! This is the first time in its prestigious history that this event will be held outside of Korea!

As you know Taekwondo began as a Martial Art in Korea over 2,000 years ago. After being introduced at the Olym-

pic in 1988 the popularity of Taekwondo increased tremendously. How-ever practicing Taekwondo as an Olympic Sport is only one of the many vehicles to make Taekwondo the most practiced Martial Art in the world. Taekwondo’s true value is rooted in its tradition as a Martial Art. Respect, Perseverance, Integrity, and Confidence are the intangibles that every true Taekwondo practitioner strives for.

Olympic Taekwondo is inherently competitive. There must be a clear winner and loser. The events displayed at the World Taekwondo Han-madang challenges each participant at a personal level. Rather than com-peting against another person you are competing against yourself. For example, while participating in poomsae (forms) events, the participants are competing against themselves.

Honored guests, participants, and friends it is my honor to celebrate with you this week. You are part of a Taekwondo history. Good luck!

General Information

Taekwondo is a 2000 year old Korean Martial Art. Taekwondo was introduced as a demonstration sport at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea. Since then Taekwondo became an official Olympic Sport at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Olympic Taekwondo competition only consists of sparring.

The World Taekwondo Hanmadang was developed by the Kukkiwon in order to encompass the other aspects of Taekwondo in addition to sparring. Competitors may participate in Breaking, In-dividual and Team Traditional Forms, Team Creative Forms, Demonstration Team Competition, and Self-defense competition.

The Anaheim Convention Center is located at 800 W. Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92802 USA and is the venue for the 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang. Located in the Los Angeles area and right next to Disneyland, other local area attractions include: Universal Studios, Sea World, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Knotts Berry Farm, Hollywood, beaches, and many more.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATIONRound trip airfare and accommodations shall be the sole responsibility of the participants and offi-

cials. Shuttle service provided by Organizing Committee to and from the airport to the hotel for Foreign Country competitors with advance notice.

INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPANTS:Each individual contestant is responsible for obtaining the proper credentials required for entry into

the United States of America. Visa documents can be obtained by contacting your Embassy prior to planning your flight schedule. The 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Organizing Committee office will assist you in obtaining Visas if the team list is provided in advance. The team list should include a complete list, including full names for all athletes and officials, passport numbers, passport expira-tion dates, date of birth, gender, Kukkiwon numbers, position applying for, and Embassy information which details where the official visa letter should be sent.

KUKKIWON REQUIREMENTS:Participants are eligible to compete in the World Championship Events ONLY if they have Kukkiwon

Certification. Every member of the Team must have Kukkiwon Certification if participating in Team Events. All other ranks will participate in the Open Events.

Age divisions will be determined by participant’s age as of July 16, 2008.

● Maximum 9 Participants per Team● Hoshinsul is an activity of creative martial arts containing practicality.● You perform a creative Hoshinsul between an individual and group or between groups.● Scoring is decided by the Perfection of movements (degree of difficulty, initiative, practicality) and ac-

curacy (martial value, accuracy of exchange of attack and defense, harmony in movements)● Approximately 10 teams will advance to the Finals● Contestants must wear approved Dobok, assistants’ costume at their discretion.● Time Limit: 2 Minutes● MUSIC PROHIBITED

Required Techniques● Attackers are encouraged to use fake weapons to prevent injury● Different self-defense skills must be displayed in the group performance● Self-defense is to be performed without using weapons● You must not perform Hoshinsul as if you were performing a play

Late registration will be available ■through June 23, 2008 for an additional cost. Application RECEIVED after June 23, 2008 will not be considered. 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Organizing Committee Consent for Medical Treatment

I, , consent to medical treatment for athletic related injuries/illnesses by 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Organizing Committee Medical Personnel and/or Hospital medical Staff at any 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Organizing Committee Sanctioned Event. I authorize treatment by such personnel in the event of injury or illness. This care includes but is not limited to: preventative taping and padding, first aid treatment of injuries and emergency care of injuries, which may include use of a backboard and cervical collar; suturing, splinting or casting or wounds/injuries on site or in medical treatment facility,; chiropractic adjustments and care; acupuncture treatments; use of AED, injected medications, oxygen or IV to stabilize and participant’s condition on site or in route to a medical treatment facility; and any other medical and/or life-sustaining treatment deemed necessary for participant to continue participating or deemed by medical personnel to be in the best interest of the health and well-being of the participant.

All medical evaluations completed by 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Organizing Committee medical Personnel for athletic injuries are considered confidential and will be filed under the direction of the 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Organizing Com-mittee Medical Coordinator. Copies of medical injury forms can be requested verbally from the 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Organizing Committee Medical Coordinator by the injured athlete, or parent of a minor athlete at the time of injury or requested in writing following a competition. The original injury report form will remain on file. No information about an individual participant will be released without the athlete’s permission per Federal Guidelines except where it is necessary to file insurance claims directly associated with the injury or illness. Information pertaining to injury data without using a participant’s name will be released to the Medical Director, the Medical Coordinator or their assistants for purposes of injury research or recommendations for safety rule changes onlyI have read and understand the above information as it pertains to my medical records of injury of illness, which may occur and be treated at 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Organizing Committee Sanctioned events. I understand that all entry fees are nonrefundable.

I understand that 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Organizing Committee activities involve risks and dangers of serious bodily injury, including permanent disability, paralysis and death. These risks and dangers may be caused by myself or the minor child’s own actions, or inactions, and/or the actions or inactions of others par-ticipating in the athletic meet.

■ If the minor child or I fail to show up at the athletic meet, for any reason, I knowingly forfeit this competition and all applicable registration fees. I further understand that any pictures taken of the minor child, or me, in connection with this athletic meet, may be used by 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Organizing Committee for publicity or promotion without compensation.

세계 태권도인의 축제인 ‘세계태권도한마당2008’ 대회에 여러

분을 초대합니다.

올해로 17년째를 맞이하고 있는 ‘세계태권도한마당2008’ 경연

대회는 사상 최초로 태권도 종주국인 한국이 아닌 미국 로스엔

젤레스에서 개최하게 되었습니다.

이번 대회를 통해 세계태권도한마당 경연대회가 명실상부한 세계 태권도인의

화합의 축제가 될 것으로 기대합니다.

특히 세계태권도한마당 대회의 미국 개최를 통해 태권도가 사랑과 평화 등 모든

인류가 공유하는 아름다운 가치를 지니고 있음을 증명하는 세계 최고의 태권도

축제로 자리매김 될 것을 확신합니다. 이번 대회는 태권도의 무한한 가치와 정신

을 승화하는 기회가 될 것이기 때문입니다.

또한 이제 세계는 서로 협력하며, 어울려 사는 하나의 공동체입니다. 바로 이것

이 태권도 정신입니다. 인종과 이념을 초월하는 공존의 정신을 실현하는 것이야

그리고 태권도 한마당에 참가한 임원, 선수 여러분!

본인은 해외에서 처음으로 열리는 세계 태권도 한마당을 미국

의 관문인 LA에서 개최하게 된 것을 진심으로 기쁘게 생각

합니다.

태권도 한마당은 “세계 평화와 화합을 이끌기 위한 축제의 장

이자, 태권도로 하나 되는 세상을 꿈꾼다”를 표어로 삼고 있습니다. 이는 10대

후반이나 20대 엘리트 태권도 선수들이 힘과 기술을 겨루어 메달을 따고 자국의

국위를 선양하는데 그치지 않습니다. 태권도 한마당은 나이와 성별을 떠나 가족

모두가 함께 어우러져 자신의 태권도 기량을 마음껏 발휘하는 표현의 장입니다.

또한 상대 선수를 제압하는 것에 신경을 몰두하기 보다는 소아적 자신을 통제

하고 극복하여 자아실현의 단계에 도달하는데 그 목적이 있습니다. 이는 여타

스포츠와 구별되는 부분이기도 합니다.

본인은 금번 한마당을 계기로 태권도가 갖고 있는 무도정신과 태권도의 전통

그리고 그 철학이 일반 생활해 되어지기를 바랍니다. 태권도 한마당은 축제

이자 무도 교육의 현장입니다. 이러한 장르는 한국의 전통 무예인 태권도의

중요한 가치이자 우리 모두의 귀중한 문화 자산으로서, 더욱 적극적으로 보존

발전 시켜야 되겠습니다.

2000년 역사를 이어온 대한민국의 무술 태권도는 1988년 서울올림픽에서 시범종목으로 소개된 이후 2000년

시드니올림픽에서 공식종목이 되었는데, 올림픽에서의 태권도경연은 겨루기로 국한되어 있다.

이에 국기원은 겨루기 이외의 태권도의 정신과 기술을 널리 알리기 위하여 세계태권도 한마당을 개최

하였다. 세계태권도한마당에서 선수들은 격파, 개인 및 팀대항 품새, 팀대항 창작품새, 팀대항 종합경연 및 호

신술 등의 종목에 참가할 수 있다.

2008 세계태권도한마당이 열리는 애너하임 컨벤션센터는 미국 캘리포니아 92802 애너하임, 웨스트 카텔

라 애비뉴 800번지에 위치하고 있다. 로스엔젤리스 내 디즈니랜드 바로 옆에 위치하고 있으며 근처 관광명

소로는 유니버셜 스튜디오, 씨월드, 리플리의 빌리브잇 오아 낫, 플라이트 데크 에어컴뱃 센터, 헐리우드, 해

변 등이 있다.

참가조건

왕복항공료와 숙박비용은 참가자와 단체부담이며, 외국에서 오는 선수단은 참가 일정 통보시 공항과 호텔

왕복을 픽업 서비스한다.

해외 참가자:

개인 참가자는 개별적으로 미국 입국에 필요한 자격요건을 갖추어야 한다. 비자서류는 항공편 예약에 앞서

각 대사관을 통해 취득할 수 있으며, 2008 세계태권도한마당 조직위원회는 단체참가자 명단이 사전제공될

경우 비자취득을 도와줄 것이다. 이러한 경우, 단체명단은 선수이름과 기관명, 여권번호, 여권유효기간, 생년

월일, 성별, 국기원고유번호, 출전종목, 그리고 공식비자서류 발송을 위한 정확한 주소지 등의 내용이 포함된

완전한 명단이어야 한다.

국기원 규정:

참가자들은 국기원 품, 단증을 취득한 경우에 한해서 세계 선수권 대회에서 경연을 펼칠수 있다. 단체참가

일 경우 팀원 모두가 국기원 품, 단증을 가지고 있어야 하며, 그렇지 않은 모든 경우는 기록경기에 참가하게

된다.

연령구분은 2008년 7월 16일을 기준일로 한 참가자의 나이에 준한다.

으며 모든 등록양식과 서류는 등록기한 내에 도착하도록 하여야 합니다.

■ 조기등록기한은 2008년 6월 16일까지 도착분에 한하며, 이후 등록은 2008년 6월 23일까지 가능하며 추가비용이 발생합니

성명 , 본인은 경기중 발생한 부상/질병을 2008세계태권도한마당 조직위원회 의료진과/또는 2008세계태권도

한마당 조직위원회의 허가를 득한 병원의료진에게 치료받는 것에 동의합니다. 본인은 동 의료진에게 부상이나 질병의 치료를 위임합니다. 치료

는 다음의 내용을 포함하며 국한되지는 않습니다: 예방적 차원의 테이핑과 충전물 이용, 상처의 1차치료 및 등널과 경부고정대, 상처봉합, 부

목, 깁스 등을 사용하는 응급처치, 또는 경기장이나 의료기관에서의 상처/부상의 응급처치를 포함합니다. 또한 척추교정요법과 처치; 침술치
