Summary of Steve Jobs’ Commencement Speech in Stanford 2005

Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple computer and Pixar animation studio, shared his three major stories that happened in his life. The first story is when he explained how his education developed in an old-fashioned way. The second story is about love towards what he do. He explained how he got fraud by his BOD members and partner causing him to be fired from his own company, Apple. And because of that, Pixar was created and getting fired from Apple was one of the best thing ever happened to him. He returned to Apple later and continued to be the CEO. The last story is about death. It was when Steve Jobs found out that he was diagnosed with a rare pancreatic cancer and it was incurable at first. He lived everyday thinking that it was his last. He did not let death get in between his work instead, it motivated him even more thinking that he had lesser time to achieve what he wanted. Besides his story, he explained how his dropout from Stanford was the one of the best decision he made.  “The minute I dropped out, I could stop taking required classes that didn’t interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting” quoted Steve Jobs. He encouraged the young generations to go after what they loved doing even though they would be criticized because our lives are limited and we’ve got to stop living other people’s life and start living ours.
