Wallwisher

Results

On wallwisher I asked what people would like to see in a teen comedy and I received many responses with what an audience would like to see in a teen comedy storyline. Most responses said that they want things in the storyline that teenagers can relate to such as drinking, parties, sex and crude humour. These responses were similar to the successful conventions I found in similar teen comedies. This means that by using the things that my wallwisher audience said they would like to see my product should be successful as these conventions are successful in similar products. Many responses said they wish to see attractive girls in the movie which is also common in teen comedies and can cause humour with geeky boy characters.

Survey monkey

I created a survey monkey questionnaire to find out information about my target audience and what they would like in my upcoming film trailer. I shared this on twitter so I could get people around teenager age to answer my questionnaire, this is the target audience age of teen comedies so the answers are very useful.

Question 1

The first question showed that my target audience is of equal gender. This is good for my upcoming teen comedy as it means it will have a vaster target audience that it appeals to and so will generate more money.

Question 2

The second question showed that 100% of the people who answered were aged between 17 and 25 which shows my audience is teenagers and people in their early 20s which is the same age as most characters in my teen comedy so the audience can emphasise with them.

Question 3

The third question showed that all of my target audience watch teen comedies. This is good as it shows people are interested in the teen comedy genre and so there is a good chance people will be interested in watching my teen comedy.

Question 4

Question 4 showed me that the target audience wants to see lots of funny parts as well as relatable teenage stuff like parties and sex in my teen comedy. These are all conventional of a teen comedy and so should be successful in my teen comedy

Question 5

Question 5 showed that 75% of my target audience do watch film trailers which is good as I have to create a trailer and so if the audience like it they are likely to want to watch the whole film.

Question 6

In question 6 the target audience said that they would want to see fast beat music on the trailer which is conventional. They also said they would like to see the funny bits and introduction to the main characters which is important for a successful trailer.

FOCUS GROUP

I used a small focus group of people from my target audience to gain their views on what they want to see in a teen comedy, what they like in similar products and what they do not like. From this I found that they liked crude humour in similar teen comedies and want to see it in my teen comedy. I also found that they want to see characters that are relatable as well as funny awkward scenes. They also want to see the different social cliques which is conventional for teen comedies.
