SUMMARY Characteristic of Triturus cristatus habitats in the Orle Gniazda Landscape Park and its environs This article presents the distribution and characteristic of habitats of Crested newt Triturus cristatus in Orle Gniazda Landscape Park. Explorations were led from Marsh to July 2005. About 49 reservoirs of very different sizes were examined. The appearance of this species were estimated on eight exposures (Remby, Bory II, Gorzelnia, Nowa Wieś, Włodowice, Moczydła, Gorzkowce, Zawada). Crested newt occupied mainly small ponds and reservoirs (3-50m 2 ), but deeper than others with water plants developed in differently degree, also very poor in plants. The valuation of water pH was maintained in range 7,1-7,5. In two causes it raised adequate 5,9 and 5,5 (Włodowice, Nowa Wieś). In habitats where were sh Crested newt were absent. On ve locations both Crested newt and Smooth newt Triturus vulgaris were stated. The distribution of all locations were irregular, average distance was about 4,1 km. Except the investigation area next two locations were discovered in environs of Korwinów and Walaszczyki. The estimation of some threats were based on observations. The most important threat for Crested newt population are drying up the reservoirs, their pollution, destruction of water plants and shes.
