masked and missed if education
and intervention is not provided.
This program targets how “ Stigma ” and “ Myths ” about the behavior
can add to the missed opportunitiesfor intervention using an
educational approach to
target and intervene with when
warranted.
Penetrating such a barrier througheducation and awareness is the first
step in helping someone directly or
someone helping the affectedindividual that is contemplating such
behavior.
Learning Objectives :
Defining Suicide - Defined as a Maladaptive Problem Solving Behavior, notGenetic; dispelling Myths and eradicating Stigma for seeking assistance
How Suicidal Thoughts and Feelings become enmeshed during a “Crisis” Defining Addiction Factors (e.g.’s Encouragement/Peer Pressure, Alcohol and Drugs, Depression and
Anxiety, Personality Characteristics) surrounding youth that can contrib-ute to theSpectrum of Suicidality.
Youth Subculture, Communication Skills, Outlets (concerns, challenges, tech-nology) Defining Bullying (Types) Spectrum of Bully Behavior and some of the corre-
sponding thoughts/feelings of isolation, rejection, and indifference with youth whohave not developed the empowering Communication Skills and Outlets incounteracting such maladaptive behavior
Identification of Troubled Youth (Peer, Teacher, Family involvement) Assessment and Intervention (individual, school, peer, family, and commu-nity via
training)

Fees will be returned if the seminar is cancelled due to a limited number of attendees or is cancelled with Dr. Cipriano 72 hours before the seminar. Fees will not be returned if the attendee does not show to the seminar for any reason or contacts SIMCIP Group inside 72-hours of the designated seminar. The hope would be to do another similar seminar(s) hosted by Yakima City Police Dept. within a 12-month period. For those that are not able to attend and have paid or cancel with Dr. Cipriano inside the 72-hour time frame of the designated seminar, he/she is welcome to attend another seminar as a comped spot. The paid and registered attendee can also have another attendee replace and attend the paid seminar in his/her place. The attendee is responsible for notifying Dr. Cipriano prior to the designated seminar. The attendee and /or designated staff member must contact Dr. Cipriano (upon advertisement for any of the future SIMCIP Group seminars) for that comped spot to be honored if the seminar was not attended or contact was made with Dr. Cipriano inside the 72-hour time frame of that designated seminar.
